Troy Maxson is 53, the father of Cory Maxson, and he makes the house rules. Troy hates how Cory doesn’t respect him, so when this happens they both always get to an argument. For example, in the story it states when Cory is being kicked out of his house, “Go on now! You got the devil in you. Get on away from me! Get your black ass out of my yard. “I chose this example because it tells me that Cory is being kicked out from Troy being mad at him. He uses disgrace words to describe Cory. Tory and Cory are both alike because they act like one another. They both talk nicely to Rose, but when it comes to talking to one another it’s always arguing being involved. They are different because Troy likes baseball while Cory likes football. In the story it states, “Baby, it’s you and baseball all what count to me. “ I choose this example because he emphasizes about liking baseball.…

“An exciting adventure.” That was the mentality of boys and men all over the North and South, leading up to the Civil war. Seeing an alternative to the monotonous farm life, many men were eager and filled with anticipation at the thought of being in a war. In The Boys War by Jim Murphy, these men and boys learn the truth about war. Many preconceptions are shattered, and fantasies are broken wide open by reality. One common misconception was that the fighting would be constant, but this was not the case. When soldiers were not marching, being drilled, or in the midst of a skirmish, there was often leisure time. During these periods, men and boys were free to pursue activities and games. Gambling, pulling pranks, and occasional fraternization were three pastimes of men and boys alike during the war.…

Vinny and Joe-Boy have many differences. Vinny and Joe-Boy are different by Vinny being nervous about jumping, when Joe-Boy is taking a risk and jumping man-style. I also believe that Vinny is lonely because Joe-Boy has a girlfriend and Vinny does not. On page 5 it says “The cold mountain water tasted tangy. Was it because the boy’s body was down there decomposing? He spit it out.” That is why I believe that he was afraid and nervous about the dead boy.…

The Little Rock nine is a great example of discrimination in the U.S. The Little Rock nine was a group of African American students that went to an all white high school. In this study, one factor that was obvious was the effect that the class size had on participation. The more students that were in the class, the less likely that the students would interact with each other; because of the number of students, the amount of equipment available was scarce. Students were stuck with equipment that was broken or they had to wait on others for their turn. Because of the large class, students that didn’t have friends in the class were not motivated to participate as much with the children that they didn’t…
