Violent Illusion?
Have you ever wondered what causes people to snap the way they do, is it a bad childhood? An abusive childhood? Ostracism or is there a connection of violent video games and they crimes? Every time that a major criminal act occurs, like a maniac going on a killing spree, the government and society aims straight towards violent video games. People question, “Is there a link between atrocious acts of violence and video games?” I believe that there is. I agree that there’s a connection because statistics support that violent video games can sometimes, most of the time, corrupt ones mind. Also, these violent games cause people, especially young people to make bad and wrong decisions. Lastly, it puts more into a sick persons mind and causes them to snap. Many articles are around to support this, however, many are also around to oppose it.

Firstly, do you think that people who play violent video games go to sleep with these crazy thoughts in their head or one day they just snap? These wild and outrageous ideas of killings linger in their minds because of how often they play these games. It transforms their metal track. This is no good especially for someone who is already mentally ill. Games such as Mortal Kombat, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Halo and even Grand Thief Auto are #1 motivators. These games can lead to very violent and aggressive behavior. It gets drilled into their minds that they can be like these unrealistic people in these virtual worlds and go around killing people. They get so wrapped up into their crazy world that they think it’s all true and they’re untouchable. Then they go and kill themselves after they realize that it’s no longer a game and there’s no way out of it, except suicide. The games manipulate them and get them into situations that they can no longer control and it can get very dangerous for a lot of people. For example, the Columbine high school shooting in 1999 which was by two teenagers and articles blame Mortal...

Links: Video Games to Violent Crimes” by George Wash claims that people who regularly spend 2 or more hours playing violent video games are 450% more likely to commit a crime before 25 years old. This is a valuable point because many people were surveyed for this test and it provides solid evidence that there is some kind of connection between violent video games and violent crimes.
How many times have you witnessed or heard of a serious crime going to trial and the criminal’s lawyer is trying to use insanity or a mental illness to their defense? They are guilty no matter what and they knew exactly what they were doing. It’s not fair at all for them to get out of what they did so easily meanwhile they killed someone. It doesn’t provide any type of closure that the families affected can get. This makes it unfair when a murderer commits suicide after a killing spree, like most of them do. Like Adam Lanza for example, who went into an Elementary school on a early December day and shot 20 innocent kids and 7 adults including himself, his mother and staff of the school. His story is displayed in the article “UPDATED: 26 dead, including 20 kids, in Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting: Gunman Adam Lanza, 20, kills teacher mom in her Newtown home, drives her car to her school and opened fire before killing self”. What can possible make you go and kill people, ESPECIALLY a bunch of innocent children? It is so sad and has changed so many people’s lives. It has affected people all over the world and has traumatized many. Then to add onto it, no one gets any type of closure because Lanza did not suffer like the 27 people and families of those, who did. He decided to take away his own life and 27 other innocent peoples. If he was so unhappy, why didn’t he just kill himself and that’s it? Why take away other peoples live, little babies… Its so upsetting and he should have been properly punished for what he did, even though it still wouldn’t add up to all of the pain and trauma he caused everyone. Although, James Holmes wasn’t smart enough to kill himself after busting into a midnight opening of Batman: The Dark Knight and firing with his rifle killing 12 and injuring 68. He might not have killed himself but they’re using another method that angers me extremely. His lawyers are trying to use insanity to his defense which should be completely irrelevant to his punishment. If hes crazy or not, he should be punished to fullest extent of the law. There are crazy people all over the world but not all of them go around killing people, so the fact that he has a history of mental issues just shows why he should be off the streets and away from humanity!!! He deserves the worst, and so did Adam Lanza. This upsets many people because a past record of a suicidal thought or something DOES NOT justify anything!! It doesn’t make it okay. This tells other crazy people that if they want to go on a killing spree just make sure you have a mental history before you do it so your super lawyer can get you off the hook.
In conclusion, violent video games and violent crimes are connected. Violent games have very negative effects and can cause incidents that can’t be fixed and can ruin a lot of peoples lives. It can destroy the stability of a person’s mentality. Past mistakes and experiences should help prevent future mistakes. All of it makes me wonder, why??? It cant possible be for fame, and if it is…they really are insane. Violent video games cause too much trouble.
