History has been no stranger to the multitude of genocides and mass killings in countries all over the world and for various reasons. There are infinite ways to narrate the occurrence of these atrocities; however, they are most frequently characterized as either purposive or illness narratives determined by the culture that is creating the retelling of these experiences. Genocide can be defined as "the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation;" therefore to neglect the impact of culture in the created narrative depicting these atrocities would be deemed ignorant, primarily due to the fact that genocide and mass killings…
Every case of genocide and mass murder has its own story and anotherness, they also didn’t happen in the blink of an eye. The perpetrators of these events have always had a fundamental reason to what led them to execute such gruesome crimes. Most may know, the German holocaust and the Rwandan genocide are the two most known and most terrible violation of human rights because of the amount of people that were killed and the way in which these murders were performed. This essay is a discussion of key similarities and differences of the roles of perpetrators in the two case studies; Rwandan genocide and the German…
The German Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide: two interconnected examples of crimes against humanityHistory contains many examples of glorious and memorable events that remind one of the greatness of the human mind and inspire him or her to pursue his or her own dreams. Nevertheless, it is also full of horrific events and monstrous doings such as genocides that reflect the darkest corners of human nature. As postulated by the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, "a genocide is any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members…
During the Holocaust, you killed over 4,000 people and tortured countless people, including Simone Legrange, who when first met you said “He was caressing the cat. And me, a kid 13 years old, I could not imagine that he could be evil because he loved animals. I was tortured by him for eight days.” You were drafted into the Nazis at a young age.You made the infliction of pain a daily lifestyle. The crimes you have committed have left me speechless. I can not believe that someone could be so inhumane.…
The Holocaust isn’t the only genocide in History. The definition of genocide is “The deliberate and systematic extermination of a nation, racial, or cultural group. Two groups in Rwanda, the Hutus the dominant and the Tutsis the smaller are at war. The Rwandan Genocide started because of a death of the Rwandan president, but no one knows who caused it.…
All genocides have their separate reasons. The Rwandan Genocide was caused by the belief that one group of people was superior to another group, solely because of their looks. The Armenian Genocide was similar, a group targeted simply because of their ethnicity. In Cambodia, people were killed in the name of politics, while the Bosnian Genocide was caused by belief that one religion was superior to another.…
In the article “The Charge: Genocide” by Lydia Polgreen and “Armed & Underage” by Jeffrey Gettleman, a claim that could be made is No real justice is being done for the people. So, Even though people responsible are undergoing investigation, children are still being forced to fight for their government and people are still being threatened by genocide. Including , According to “Armed & Underage” by Jeffrey Gettleman it states, “While the number of conflicts involving child soldiers has dropped since 2004 from 27 to 15, human-rights experts estimate that more than 200,000 children worldwide are still being used as combatants, usually against their will. And it isn't just boys: Girls are often pressed into duty as cooks or messengers. Many are…
The Rwandan genocide was an atrocity that marked an age of unrest and violence in Central Africa. A nation unbalanced for years had finally imploded, leading to the mass murder of hundreds of thousands of Tutsis. This genocide was the result of multiple things, creating instability and unbalancing the relationship between the Tutsis and the Hutus. Tensions built up for decades were finally released. While many would blame Belgium, Germany, and colonization for catalyzing the genocide, there were many other factors involved, including structural oppression, the rise of the Rwandan Patriot Front, and most notably propaganda spread by the Rwandan Radio; proving that while colonialism may have played a large role…
The Holocaust was a horrifying and devastating time. Hitler and the Nazis had taken over many countries and had planned for world domination. When people think about the Holocaust they think that Hitler and the Nazis were the only ones to blame, but Hitler could not have pulled off the Holocaust without the unwitting help of residents, Europeans, and leaders of other countries.…
Most deniers insist that the Holocaust is a Jewish conspiracy created to improve the Jews place in society. This is why it's usually categorized as an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory and why it is so dangerous. The more people who believe that the Holocaust never occurred, the greater the risk that some may eventually attempt to repeat it. While the Nazi party was in power, they murdered about six million Jewish people. There is an abundance of evidence of the Holocaust including countless photos, testimonies, and records that prove the Nazis involvement in the Holocaust. Denying the Holocaust is so dangerous because there is a growing number of people who claim that the Holocaust never occurred or that it is blown out of proportion. Holocaust…
The theory of feminism can help explain the reasons for unreported sexual assaults toward females. For instance, females strongly disagree with the perception of "rape culture". "Rape culture" is the act of subjugating women by disregarding the significance of sexual violence as a norm. Media being a powerful platform, is able to promote/obstruct numerous issues, including "rape culture", for example Robin Thicke's song Blurred Lines "I know you want it.../Can't let it get past me.../Talk about getting blasted.../The way you grab me/Must wanna get nasty..." (Thicke, 2013) stating a man has power over the decision making of a woman and he will continually harass her; this song promotes sexuality whether it is…

These victims included 1.5 million children and 2/3 of the entire Jewish European (9 million Jews) population. From 1941 to 1945 killing of the Jews were carried out through German occupied Europe. However it wasn’t only the Jews that were help at the concentration camps, as Soviets, communists the disabled and homosexuals were also help in the concentration camps. In 1941, the Germans had murdered 2 million Jews in mass shooting in less than one year, however in the 1942 the Jews were transported to concentration camps where they would be systematically killed in Gas chambers. This continued on until the end of World War 2 (April 1945). The Jews had…
Lenn Goodman presented a good argument about certain things that are simply wrong. In his article, he specified that the sole areas in the article are not inclusive of every consideration to which humans are rightful; he argues that these are some of the practices that should never be regarded as an alternative. Goodman addresses these areas as: Genocide, politically induced famine, germ warfare, terrorism, hostage taking, child warriors, slavery, polygamy, incest, rape and female genital cutting (Goodman, 2010, pg.88). According to Goodman, “Genocide is uglier than murder because it targets individuals as members of a group”. It includes eliminating a certain group of people or a tribe. In some African countries, politically induced famine is utilized to control the population and germ warfare is used to wipe out the enemy. Militant and political groups’ choices are example of relativism. Relativism argues that moral claims must be evaluated relative to a person, a culture, or a society: rather than something being right or wrong, it is right or wrong relative to the values of a specific community (Mosser, 2010). According to Mosser, this argument may seem to eliminate a number of disagreements, but it may prevent us from insisting that something really is, simply, wrong. I agree that genocide is morally and simply wrong, it is embedded in our society that this act is unacceptable even in the eyes of God and mankind. Goodman expressed that terrorism is the act of willfully targeting non-combatants aiming to intimidate and attract attention (Mosser, 2010, p.14). Terrorism do not have well-reasoned motives and some people participates in terrorism acts out of fear. Child warriors learned from what they see and perceived it as the right thing to do. During the time of slavery, societies regarded that injustices…
