“Engineering is all around us, so people often take it for granted, like air and water. Ask yourself, what do I touch that is not engineered?
Is important to find a career that provides ones with enjoyment and satisfaction
For
numerous reasons, some engineering professions provide a very satisfying working environments.
The reason for choosing engineering as a professional carreer largely attributed to the perception of the job security and market demand
Engineering is a great profession. There is the fascination of watching a figment of the imagination emerge through the aid of science to a plan on paper.
Engineers develop solutions to a realworld problems. They employ conscious and subconscious mental processing as well as divergent and convergent thinking.

Why do I want to be a civil engineer? Until recently, I did not know the answer to this question myself. I was lost when choosing a career. Then, I read about civil engineering, an occupation involving the construction of buildings, roads, and bridges. As I looked farther into civil engineering, I liked many of the other aspects involved with the career. Although the education will be difficult, I have determined that civil engineering is the career that I want to pursue. What is civil engineering? This career can not be defined using just a few words. The many obstacles that civil engineers must overcome cover a vast area of responsibilities. “Civil engineers conceive, plan, construct, and operate facilities that meet basic human needs and reach out toward the realization of society’s most noble goals” (Auburn 106). Civil engineers solve real world problems with the combination of applying mathematics and natural sciences (Hagerty and Heer 2-3). Upon deciding to pursue a career in civil engineering, I must have many attributes that help me decide for myself if I am right for this career. Probable civil engineers can be found occupying their childhood time with

I had the pleasure of interviewing Bob Appleton, a civil engineer at Texas A&M. The questions I asked him that taught me the most about civil engineering were “What is your daily job as a civil engineer?” and “What are the personal qualities you need to be a civil engineer? For example, motivation, etc.” Mr. Appleton said as a civil engineer, your daily job is to take data that surveyors collected in the field, either on the the ground or by aerial photographs (which he explained as being similar to images seen on Google Earth). Then you use the data to create drawings and designs for many different structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, ports, etc. Mr. Appleton said that to be a civil engineer you need to possess the qualities of integrity…

Before the Spanish-American War even started, the United States predicted conflict with Spain. Because of this prediction, the USS Oregon (captured above) was sent from California towards Cuba. The journey was very long and the crew had to make many stops. It was more than 14,000 miles and took around 60 days. By the time the ship reached Cuba, the Spanish-American War had already begun. This incident sparked the idea in many Americans that something had to change. There had to be a better way to get from the Atlantic to the Pacific.…

I believe the powers and roles that are important of the president are commander in chief, chief diplomat, and chief legislator. Commander in chief is an important role because it gives the president power to control the military. Everything the president says and does is followed at home and in other countries. Chief legislator lets the president form public policy and this role allows him or her to insist Congress to pass laws that he or she believes in.…

Though suffering from my inferiority, I have discovered the strength to enter the world of engineering. Tools and machines will never disappoint—when one puts a quarter-inch wrench on a quarter—inch bolt, it works. I don’t have to be the smartest or the prettiest to gain other’s recognition, and I don’t need to please anyone in the engineering world. As long as I understand the mechanics, I can accomplish anything if I try hard enough - the efforts I put it will always become the outcome I wished…

    The American President

When I think of which characteristics that makes a good president I expect that person to be honest, trustworthy and confident. The President is our country’s leader. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their life with honestly and integrity. A good leader is confident. In order to lead and set the direction of our country the president needs to appear confident as a person and in the leadership role. Each and every American president is looked at differently by people. Of the presidents that I have studied so far I think that Presidents Washington, Jackson and Lincoln have shown that they were honest, trustworthy and confident in their abilities. President Washington was so highly trusted as a leader and citizen that he turned down a bid by some of his officers to be named king. Instead, he was very aware that his actions as President would set precedents for the future of the office and he carefully considered every step he took. When General Washington was suffering year after year of humiliating defeats before going on to final victory he paid his troops out of his own pocket to keep them from going home. Washington earned the unlimited confidence of those early citizens of the United States. President Jackson once said, "Every good citizen makes his county's honor his own, and cherishes it not only as precious but sacred. He is willing to risk his life in its defense and it’s conscious that he gains protections while he gives it." This quote by Andrew Jackson reflects his views as a president, military leader, and American citizen. President Lincoln was most certainly known for his honesty. He is regarded by many Americans as the greatest president to ever hold office in the history of the United States, and his reputation is definitely well deserved. Lincoln wasn't scared to stand up and fight for what he knew was right. He was able to lead our country and preserve the Union, keeping the United States from…
