A legal federal holiday on Veterans Day is commemorated in United States on November 11 on annual basis. The purpose on the back end to celebrate Veterans Day is to render prestige, tribute and honor to the folks who willingly contributed in US Armed Forces. The rationale to call this day specifically a veterans day is that the armed forces are also called as “veterans”. Speaking globally, the Remembrance Day and Armistice Day coincides to forge out one day which was then called as Veterans Day in 1954. Ultimately, the crux is spurted out in the shape of Veterans Day.…
Veterans are those who have serve in order to honor and protect their country. As these individuals boldly practice their beliefs in freedom, they rewrite history, and we as American honor these patriots who were willing to give the ultimate sacrifice.…
I would like to thank everyone that has shown their support, encouragement, sympathy, love, and prayers towards the sudden passing of my beloved grandpa from last week. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as my family goes through this new season of life. This year's Memorial Day definitely attached a different meaning to it. My grandpa was given Military Honors at the cemetery as he served in the Army in between the Korean and Vietnam War. It brought great pride, joy, and honor for him to be able to served. Thank you for those who had served and are currently serving. It is because of you that we have our freedom and liberty.…

In the early 1600's, before the birth of the administration, a system was created to supported the veterans. In 1917, Congress created a system for the veteran to have benefits that targeted disability compensation. The services included programs for disability compensation, insurance for service personnel and Veterans, and vocational rehabilitation for the disabled veteran. The Veterans Administration was created in 1930 when President Herbert Hoover signed the Executive Order. The administration consolidated all government activities dealing with war veterans. Over the years, the Department of Veterans Affairs has changed drastically and have encompassed many different facets. With the increase in foreign wars and conflicts, the influx of veterans in need of medical care and disability compensation…
Veterans were sent to other countries that they knew nothing about and had to learn so many new things. Since they are usually there for a long period of time, they had to learn the ways of those countries. They have sacrificed months to years at a time without seeing their children or families. Sometimes they did get to go home on leave, after being gone for over…
The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs administers programs to aid Alabama’s military veterans and families, and provides free assistance and advocacy for Alabama veterans seeking benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Alabama has a long history of caring for its military veterans, dating from the Civil War. In 1927 Alabama established the State Service Commission to assist veterans with claiming benefits and other services for which their military service made them eligible. The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) was an outgrowth of the Commission, created to meet the needs of a growing number of military veterans.…
“On any given night, there are over 600,000 homeless people in the U.S.” (Quigley, 2014). Most find themselves sleeping in homeless shelters, short-term transitional housing or someplace uninhabitable. While there are many circumstances that can create homelessness, the major causes are high poverty rates, racial disparities, single parenting, domestic violence, lack of affordable housing, mental illness, and other traumatic experiences. In cases where the homeless person is single, lack of affordable housing, poverty, and unemployment were the leading causes. In cases where families are homeless, substance abuse, lack of affordable housing and mental illness were the top cause. In this research paper, I will try to unveil the factors that…
There are numerous social problems that plague our world today. These issues can be very detrimental to our society as a whole and can also have very negative impacts on many lives. One major social problem we are facing today is the way we are dealing with and handling our United States Veterans. Despite the fact that we are one of the world’s most powerful nations we are failing to properly take care of our service members who put their lives on the line to ensure our safety and freedom as United States citizens. The issues facing our veterans are substantial and numerous. I will be focusing on the majority of the most outstanding and significant issues facing our veterans…
For most Americans, we honor our veterans because they served us to be free and without them we wouldn't be free in our country. But why? Why do we honor our veterans years after they're done serving. We need to honor them because they fought and worked hard for friends, family, and country. To me, if we don't honor our veterans it would be heartbreaking to the veterans that made our country free. Also, since we are free we can have our own beliefs and not believe in something that someone else does, and have our own rights so we can do what we want to do. Thank you to all veterans that served for our country so we can be free.…
Veterans are an important part of our nation and do not get the credit that they deserve. Veterans have risked their lives for this country countless times, yet they go unappreciated a lot of times. From a personal stance, my grandfather is a retired veteran himself and he fought in the Vietnam War. If my grandfather had not been able to get on his feet from retiring from the Navy, I would hope that there would be some type of support system for him. A lot of veterans today do not have the support system that they had when they were in the service. Once the veterans are out of the service their lives are not structured while in the service they were organized and controlled.…
The U.S Department Veteran’s Affairs (VA) provides a wide range of benefits for our service members, veterans and their families. Some of these benefits include but are not limited to include compensation, disability, education, and home loans. Throughout this paper I will discuss these benefits and the eligibility required to receive them. Eligibility for most VA benefits is based on type of discharge received through the military which is normally all discharges under other than dishonorable conditions.…
