Vengeance In The Odyssey

Drama, escapade, and vengeance is all in The Odyssey. (H) This book is written by Homer who is a Greek poet. (Auth) Homer’s effect on Western culture has had a colossal effect on Western culture. (Auth) Homer uses mythical creatures such as The Cyclop’s and Poseidon to illustrate how the Western culture worshiped and feared the gods and the dangerous creatures. (HC) The Odyssey analyzes universal themes such as vengeance throughout the book, one example is Poseidon and Odysseus. (TH) The Cyclop’s story was an interesting and an intense part in the book, it shows us how Odysseus and his crew can survive. (TS/CM) The setting was at a cave, which was the Cyclop’s house. (CD) Since the Cyclop’s was there it affects the setting.(CM) The Cyclop’s was a strong creature that is made by Poseidon.(CD) Since the Cyclop’s was there it was hard to defeat the beast.(CM) But the downfall of the creature was that he wasn't smart at all.(CD) One example is when Odysseus told him to drink this drink, the Cyclop’s drunk the drink and fell asleep, this was the start of how they had to escape .(CM) The Cyclop’s story shows that the setting can be dramastically different, because when the Cyclop’s was not there it was peaceful but when he got there it was scary. (CS)
(TS/CM) The man vs nature was that they are stuck in the cave with the Cyclop’s, the crew is too weak to move the rock. (CD/CM) Man vs Himself is when they are trying to figure out how to escape, Odysseus used his wisdom to strategize on what to do. (CD/CM) Man vs Man was when Odysseus made a decision to go to the cave in the first place, which got them in trouble. (CD/CM) Man vs Supernatural is the crew against the Cyclop’s, which they outsmart and escape. (CD/CM) The conflicts in this story make it exciting, because the conflicts created action to build up the story.
