I did my report on vegetarians. Vegetarians are people who do not eat red meat, poultry, or seafood. About 7 billion animals die each people because of humans eating them. Some vegetarians also don’t eat the by products of animals. There are many different reasons to become a vegetarian. Some of those reasons are religious beliefs, respect for animals, health-related, political, environmental, cultural, aesthetic or economic. There area also various types of vegetarians. Ovo-vegetarians are vegetarians who only eat eggs, but not any other dairy products. Lacto-Vegetarians can eat all dairy products except eggs. Ovo-lacto vegetarians can eat both eggs and dairy products. Some people are vegans, which means they don’t eat any dairy, meat, eggs or honey, items refined or manufactured through any of those products. Semi- vegetarians eat mostly vegetarian food but do eat fish and poultry and sometimes other meats. People that eat fish but no other meat are called pescetarian. Raw vegans eat only fish and fruits that aren’t cooked, nuts, seeds and vegetables. Their vegetables can only be cooked up to a certain temperature. Fruitarians only eat fruit, nuts, seeds and other plants that can be eaten without hurting or damaging the plant. Sattvic vegetarians (yogic) only eat plant based foods and some dairy, but not eggs, and honey. They cant eat onions, red lentils, durian fruit, mushrooms, blue cheeses, fermented foods or sauces, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, or any other type of stimulant such as such as excess sharp spices. Jain vegetarians eat dairy products but not eggs, honey, or root vegetables. Vegetarians on macrobiotic diets eat only whole grains and beans. Pollotarians can eat chick and some other poultry but no other meat. Pollo pescetarians eat poultry eat and meat. In 1847 the first vegetarian society was formed to prove that’s its possible to be a vegetarian but also be healthy.
