Vanessa Medina

Hello, I'm Vanessa Medina, a 15-year-old ninth grader at Hamilton High School in Milwaukee. I was born on October 2, 2000. I live with my mother Amy, and sisters Adriana, Alex and Gabby. I have 2 pets, one is a Maltese dog named Buttons and a kitty my family and I rescued named Greenie. I started at a head start school called Guadalupe Head Start-Loyola at the age of 3, then went on to Fairview Charter School, and now I'm at Hamilton. I was doing great at head start because it was mostly playtime and I was outgoing, I was doing pretty good in Fairview too, but as I aged and in the 5th grade I became very introverted. I started having bad grades because I was too nervous to raise my hand for help, or to talk to people that I had known for a
I draw a lot, I always loved art because it came in different forms, and there was never a wrong way to do it. I drew a lot of anime, cartoon characters, and did nature drawings because they are cute and fun, and could express myself without words. When I was in middle school, I played many instruments at Fairview, because the music program is great. I played the handbells, piano, harp, recorder, guitar, ukulele, glockenspiel, and joined show chorus. My family is unique, I don't get along with them sometimes, we could be fine then fight and then be fine, it's weird but we all love each other dearly. We share cries, laughs, anger, and stories. I have a best friend named Nishma, I met her at Hamilton in my World's Studies class, she is really funny and kind, we hang out a lot and share stories about our lives, and we like the same things which make our friendship more fun and she got me more comfortable around others, I'm grateful. When I'm older, I want to be an animator, zoologist or an artist, after years of being confused about what I want to be I've brought it down to three choices for my future
