Are video games a value to people and even societies? This is one controversial questions that's been argued and pondered on for years and years on end and I believe that video games have many many great qualities and have very much value to not only the U.S. but the world in general. The values also spread across many categories from improvement in skills and other things that make us grow as humans, to connecting people, and even stuff like jobs.

One of the biggest reasons video games are a value is the impact they make on you, they do stuff they increase reaction time, affects motor skills, helps people read faster and even help kids with dyslexia learn to read better even helps with cognitive development and it boosts memory too. All

Right now in adolescence it still helps with cognitive development but it helps more with stuff like socializing, motivation, emotional help, and can even help with violent tendencies and how to reduce them or not act on them. For instance Most kids who play games are very shy and don't have lots of friends growing up, maybe 2-4 close friends in each grade but not much more than that. But once they would get introduced to online gaming they would talk to kids at school about games they both had and they would play online together, starting in middle school Is when kids start to have more friends and people they can talk to and then they're not as shy or socially awkward anymore, on top of that it helps keeps people happy and helps people express emotions. As stated in the “Are There Benefits in Playing Video Games?” Romeo talks about how there DNA be a big positive increase in emotions from video games by distracting them from some real life problems which in that case the people should still seek help for those problems but also in having good times with friends or even enjoying the plot and story of a game. A really good point that Romeo makes is “Many gamers report intense emotions of pride and achievement by immersing themselves in games that allow a high sense of control that "takes them out of themselves."”. There are also a lot of games in circulation right now in which you have to make a certain decision that could change the outcome of the rest of the game. I was playing a game recently where you get to choose whether to have your character take a good path or bad path. I chose good path because of the spiffs I got for being good. Video games also improve your hand-eye coordination, and promote vision changes that heighten your night driving abilities. People seem to have different perspectives on video gaming. Some may say that its bad for you and others may disagree. Steven Johnson, the author of Everything Bad is Good for You, believes that video gaming comes with many benefits. Unlike reading books, video games actually help you trigger your mind and make you analyze situations, he admits. He also claims that when reading a small portion of your brain is devoted and when it comes to video games you trigger most of your senses. When playing video games there are two stages you go through, they are probing and telescoping. Probing is the ability of searching and discovering options as he is introduced to the game. After discovering and understand the game better it leads the player into making decisions which is what Johnson describes as Telescoping. From my own experiences I have to agree with Johnson, I feel that video games can be very helpful and can even improve out academic performance.…

One of the many good points against gaming is that children, teenagers and adults alike are losing sleep over video games because they are staying up all night and letting their “addiction” take over. The definition of addiction is: "The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something." And anyone who likes and plays videogames has experienced this at some point. Its not only kids that think about going home from school to play video games, many adults think about at work too, the average game player is 30 and has been gaming for about 12 years. This means that many people, no matter of their age or sex, are putting video games before their school or work by missing out on important sleep and not putting their full concentration into their work.…

Furthermore, as for the power of video games, it gives people the opportunity to explore the depths of space while trying to oust maneuver the clutches of Boba Fett and his power Slave I ship as he tries to stop you from escaping. Moreover, video games give the user the realistic feel of an unknown planet and the world as they try to protect it from evil. Protect it so much, it is almost as if it was their own. In 1958, William Higginbotham, a nuclear physicist, created what is now known as the very first video game – ‘Tennis for Two’ (reference). It was a two player tennis game played with two controllers. ‘Tennis for Two’ was meant for a small audience and was never seen as something people could make money from. This particular game was the inspiration to the first successful video game ever created ‘Pong’. ‘Pong’ was an arcade game that released in 1972. Pong’s success made people see gaming as a means of business and thus the gaming industry started. Today we have so many video games releasing every week. There are many different game consoles – ones that can be played at home and ones that are portable. We can also play video games on PC, tablets etcfor example (don’t use “etc” in a paper). Even the mobile phones we use every day can be used to play video games. All these factors have made the gaming industry a multibillion dollar industry. Today the gaming industry is worth more than the music industry and even Hollywood (reference). A new video game that is released today has a good chance to earn as much as a Hollywood movie would. In fact in more than a few cases a successful video game would make more money than most of the…
