Emergency planning includes the key areas involved in addressing any threat or hazard: prevention, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation. It is a very important to businesses, the community, and the government to know what to do before the start of a hazard, threat, or disaster. Integrating the key areas as part of the overall planning effort allows jurisdictions to produce an effective EOP(Emergency Operations Plan) and advance overall preparedness. The planning process helps creates the structure and help the community be prepared. It also help the planners determine how they will respond and recovery in the event of a disaster, hazard, or threat.
The importance and value in Emergency Planning for a local jurisdiction is to save lives and property. Emergency Plan Local responders know the area of their jurisdiction better than anyone due to the training and experiences they have acquired for that area. The local jurisdiction assigns responsibility to organizations and individuals for carrying out specific actions at projected times and places in an emergency that exceeds the capability or routine responsibility of any one agency.
