Valuables

According to my opinion, we value family because family will love us unconditionally, and they will be there for us. Of course, there are other people who love us, such as a girlfriend/boyfriend, but they are not like family because the family will stay with us forever. Also, families teach us so many valuable things, such as respect, truth and success.

At first, my parents taught me to tell the truth in any case. They always tell me to speak the truth because it is the first step that will take me to success. If I tell a lie, I will have to tell that lie in every walk of my life, so it would be good for me to speak the truth from the beginning. They also tell me to be honest with everyone and everything. I may feel difficulties in the present, but this is the road to success in the future.

Another value that they taught me is to respect my elders and to love those who are younger. By respecting the elders, I will get prayers from them and by giving love to those who are younger; I will feel an internal peace.

My parents have taught me that I have to see others as equals. No one is better than the other because every person is equal to the other person, and no one is better than anyone else. Every one is an individual, which makes us all different. Also, being different does not make you better or worse than the other person because it does not matter if you are rich or poor, black or white, fat or thin. I believe everyone is equal in God’s eyes. I still remember when my father punished me because when I was 12 years old, I said to someone who was working as a cashier in a supermarket “ you are nothing; I am better than you.” At that moment, my father looked at me and his face changed to red. Also, he yelled at me and told me I had to say sorry to him and kiss his head to show him respect; I did that. After that incident, I learned a lesson, which is we are all equal, no matter who I am or who you are.

In conclusion, I do not know what kind of person I would be without my wonderful parents, and I cannot imagine my life without them because they taught me so much about living life and loving everyone.

I am honest. Telling the truth can be hard for people to do but not me. Telling the truth can be hard for people to hear. But it is the only way for us to better ourselves or to move past an event in our lives. I have seen the affects growing up of how my father lied to my mother and the damage that is can cause. Honesty allows us to build trust which is such an important bond that we build with our family, friends and even total strangers. As I am getting older I am realizing that honest is always the best policy but it matters on how you deliver the honesty.…

Everybody has his/her core values. These core values may develop or change gradually over a lifetime but in most cases they are stable and enduring. I think one of the most important values that help me navigate through daily experiences and life as a whole is fairness. I think I inherited the value from my mother. She always reminds me to treat everybody fairly. I don’t think I can discriminate anybody because of his background, such as belief, class, and poverty. As I grow up, I find that fairness can make life harmonious. Treating friends fairly prevent them from envying each other. Treating group members fairly can make the group work go well. It also helps members well collaborate with each other and work hard because it makes them equally important to the group.…

Born in a middle-class Christian family from South India, the strict traditional values helped to embed the concept of service through family and friends who taught me trust, respect, integrity, and responsibility for my education and beliefs. One of my major spiritual values that kindled the concept of service within me is “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” which is found in the Bible. At an early age I started to practice this concept by not only self-respect for myself but mainly treating others with respect. Individuals may build their moral values from listening to their parents, grandparents, religious beliefs, friends, books, their local societal values and even watching television. Moral values and…

Example 1: A good starting point is to respect others because God said to. For example, we read in the Bible that husbands and wives are to respect their spouse and the wife must respect her husband Ephesians 5:33. Husbands, in the same way are considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect 1 Peter 3:7. The same principle applies to other relationships. Peter wrote that we should show respect to everyone. You can respect your spouse, child, parent, boss or others because of their position. Acknowledge that others have weaknesses. Everyone is imperfect. Be careful not to let their failures erode your respect for their good qualities. Look for things that you can respect. You can find something to respect in anybody if you look hard enough. Respect others as children of God. I work in a retirement community and everyday I interact with residents, families, doctors and nurse’s and my bosses the administrator and executive director and co-workers. I find that by showing respect to every person I come in contact with not only serves God’s plan for me, but my plan for my…

To me, this commandment is pretty straight forward. Except this commandment not only refers to my parents, but to everyone around me. This can be my family, the authorities, neighbors and everybody around the world. What this means to me is that I need to treat everyone with respect and care, and help them out in tough times. This commandment has taught me to be nice to someone instead of bullying them, give compliments not insults. And above all, be respectful, TO EVERYONE. I have seen people insult, bully, be disrespectful, sometimes just…

I, for one, strongly hold that one should always speak the truth. It is much easier to remain consistent when you are telling the truth than when you are telling a lie. It also leaves your conscience clear and unburdened. Your credibility is enhanced in the eyes of all those with whom you come into contact. A man who tells a lie not only deceives others, he deceives himself too. Frequent lying is habit forming. One starts lying to escape unpleasantness at first, but soon he becomes habitual liar.…
