Valparaiso University Student Motivation Letter Sample
Hi

I’m Jinfei Zhang and I think I’d be a great fit as a Mandarin Immersion Homeroom teacher at Presidio Knolls. After learning about the school and its vision as well as the job requirements, I wanted to write this letter to give you some background about myself.

I am a 2013 graduate of Valparaiso University where I graduated with my Master of Education degree with endorsement in Mandarin Chinese in addition to being a native speaker from northern China. My ability to build positive relationships with students and other educators as well as my teaching experience and modern teaching strategies will show me to be a great addition to Presidio Knolls.

After graduation I was fortunate enough to stay with New Prairie United School Corporation

I have also worked directly with teaching teams to build and follow a curriculum for the school year and am active in volunteering for extra-curricular activities.

Recently I have also started a new position teaching heritage learners ranging in age from 6 to 11 at a local Chinese Christian Church. Interacting with their native speaker parents has been a whole new experience for me as they are very involved with their children’s learning, which is very encouraging.

I’ve really grown in my first two years of teaching and improved my skills greatly when it comes to classroom management, lesson planning, and keeping adolescent students actively engaged. My students no longer sit at their desks, listening to me lecturing and memorizing facts. Students in my classes learn while collaborating with their peers and practicing in group settings working towards clear objectives and authentic assessment; a teaching style I believe would fit in very well with the progressive approach at Presidio Knolls School. I look forward to discussing the position further with you; please contact me by phone or email with any further questions. Thanks for your time and

Throughout these organizations I am either serving as a mentor or using my media skills. For example, with Chapel Assistants I have the opportunity to help prepare for each chapel service but I also serve in the Media Ministry which is responsible for making CD’s for each service, mailing CDs to attendees, and being sure the speaker gets a copy of their sermon. I love the job because I truly get to build relationships with those that attend chapel. Within the Spotlight Network I am currently a reporter in which I report events that are going on campus. This year the Spotlight Network will have its own shows and I will serve as a reporter of the shows. With Howard Players I get work on my acting skills by attending workshops. Alternative Spring Break, was my chance to be able to spend an entire week Mentoring students at Normandy High School which is located in Ferguson Missouri. To this day I continue to mentor those students I met through email. In the Freshman Leadership Academy my freshman year all year I was taught to be a leader and even had the opportunity to travel to China and provide service. Because I am a sophomore I get to use the things I learn to help mentor a current freshman. Lastly, Matriculate is a recent organization that is affiliated with Howard’s campus in which through google hangout I mentor students in low income high school.…

Today I received a message in my student email about my academic progress. I was denied Financial Aid due to my poor academic performance my 2015-2016 semester at Mesa Community College. The reason for not meeting academic requirements the previous semester was because of my lack of organization with working, sports, and studying. I take full responsibility in not putting my academics before sports and work leading me to write this letter. I truly believed I could juggle working 20 hours a week as a swim instructor and also be a student-athlete for Mesa Community College while maintaining strong grades. I soon found myself struggling in classes and doing poorly on exams because I was not using my time correctly and pushing my school work to the side. In high school I worked as a swim instructor and ran cross country as I am now, I put little effort into studying and did what I had to do to get by. Those poor habits followed me into college and are now backfiring with proof through my GPA.…

I strongly believe that communicating with colleagues and parents is the key towards student success and leading a school. I have had the opportunity to share and collaborate with teachers, parents, and the community I’ve worked in. I’ve held presentations that have provided parents with information of what our children need to master at every grade level. By doing so, I have been invited to conferences to provide others with information on Bilingual Programs and to share my ideas of Dual-Language programs in forums with other fellow educators across the state. All in all, these experiences have given me the confidence and grit I need to lead a successful and effective learning…

My passion for education grew as I grew into leadership roles. Through working with over 2,200 campers, I experienced the rewards of teaching children new concepts, helping them overcome challenges, and learning how much joy teaching can bring for me and…

Thank you so much for letting my team and myself join your 5th grade classroom this semester! I am extremely excited about this experience because I have not had many opportunities to work with the upper grade levels. My early field experience was in a 2nd grade classroom in Manhattan, so I am excited to be in Fort Riley and get to experience the diversity that your classroom will bring. I am confident that my team and I will learn so much from this experience and that we will be a great asset to your classroom. Individually and together as a group we will be able to share our great qualities with your classroom.…

Another reason I wish to join Teach For America is because I miss the classroom. As an Education minor in college, I have over 100 hours of in-field experience teaching in the classroom. Since my first field experience in a fifth grade classroom, I have longed to see my own students’ smiles when they understand a concept for the first time or to help them when they become frustrated with a problem they do not think they will be able to solve. During one of my student-teaching experiences, I helped students create their own stories, and seeing the fun that they had creating their own worlds made me realize that teaching was something that I wanted to do in the coming years after.…
