Children do not have the experience or the intellectual concept they need to make important decisions. Therefore; businesses targeting children are not morally right to Linn. Many items not available to children such as, watching inappropriate movies, television shows, or rated mature video games. One item that was created to block inappropriate movies, television shows and rated mature video games is the v-chip. A v-chip is a device to allow parents to block television shows and movies from children. Even though the v-chip is invented it is not very affected. Not all of the parents use the v-chip or may not know of the chip. This problem already makes up a large percentage of the inappropriate movies and television shows being accessible to children. Another reason the v-chip is not very affected is some people that sell television do not know how to program these v-chips. This is a problem towards children because the media has somewhat of a control over the children through television. The media has for example foul language, nudity, and gun violence, which children watch and learn and become exposed to these. Hebdige wrote “Refracted through centuries of usage, the word has acquired a number of quite different, often contradictory, meanings” (377). These examples…

Massive research done on movies containing violence, foul language and sexually explicit materials has shown that exposure to such materials at a young age can lead to psychological instability for viewers and make them more prone to committing juvenile delinquency.10 As such, the movies are often rated from Parental Guidance to NC17, M18 and in some countries R21, to protect viewers from viewing dangerous materials unsuitable for their age. The movie ratings system thus is a necessary form of censorship to bar the young from being exposed to harmful materials through movies.…

What is Censorship? It is the practice of officially examining books, movies, film, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts. Censorship usually takes place based on religious, moral, or personal reasons. In Film, censorship has taken many turns and it is continuing to encounter many conflicts. Today, everyone has access to all types of media, and in order to ensure that the viewers are watching age appropriate material is up to the parents to censor their children, not the government organizations.…

ack in 2002, when we published our first ‘How to Launch a TV Channel’ guide, most people were watching video on free-to-air analogue TV, with digital TV coming up fast on the rails. Today, in the UK and most developed countries, digital Pay-TV and digital terrestrial TV are thriving, video on the PC is at the front of everyone’s mind and mobile video is a niche but growing phenomenon. At the same time, the way that you put together and distribute a TV channel, although fundamentally similar, is also changing. We therefore decided that it was time to produce a new version of ‘How to…’ Instead of updating the original version we decided to go back to the drawing board, rethink the contents and write every page from scratch, to better reflect the TV industry of today and tomorrow.…
