In the Preoperational stage the class room should be ideally colorful, cheerful and full of fun and exciting things to do. By using pretend play in the class room it increases language uses and allows the expression of both positive and negative feelings. A school atmosphere that pretend play is encouraged in the curriculum children have been shown to lead to greater amounts of imaginativeness and enhanced curiosity. Children at this age I think will learn better if you use fun and games. IN this last stage the person is capable of hypothetical and deductive reasoning.     I will discuss children in early childhood which is between two and six years of age. In this stage of development children are changing and growing rapidly. They are start to learn new motor skills, there is pretend play and they are also learning more language skills. While every child develops at their own pace, there are some milestones you can expect to see each year from most children (Chaloux, 2014). By age two children begin pretend play more, by age three the child is able to focus more and are not distracted by things around them. The next few years are called the “magic years” because it seems like magic that your child is finally listening to you and for your child it is an opportunity for their imagination to run wild. As parents we have watched our children grow and develop in the areas of height and weight, remembered when they first crawled, walked, and even spoke their first words. During these early school years there are many changes in their physical, cognitive, language, and social/emotional development. Everything that a three-year old does during their day teaches them something about their world. They learn through exploration and trial and error and their minds are like little sponges. They learn by using all of their five senses. In the physical domain the developmental milestones that three year olds are mastering can be found in using their gross and fine motor skills. They can walk up and down stairs, one foot on each step, run easily, climbs well, and feeds themselves with some spilling. They also can build a tower of 4-5 blocks, pedal a tricycle, throw a ball overhead, and dress themselves with help (Powell, J. and Smith, C.A., 1994).
