Uses of Mobile Phone
Every day millions of people are on their phones- talking, texting, taking pictures. Personally, I can’t go a day without my phone. Once I was in such a rush to get to school that I didn’t realize I had forgotten to grab my phone from my desk. Throughout the school day, I felt empty and incomplete. I had only forgotten my phone a handful of times in all the years I have owned a cell phone. The day seemed to go on for forever. All I kept thinking about was what things I was missing Facebook or the possibly important things my friends would send in texts that I couldn’t receive. When the day was finally over, I was relieved that I could go home and be reunited with my phone. Many of my other friends experienced this problem as well. Whenever they forgot their phones at home for a day, they got antsy; it was as if they couldn’t live without their phones.     According to Statistic Brain, 29% of people say their cell phone is the first and the last thing they look at each day.  I use my phone as my alarm clock. Almost every person I see has a cell phone. And almost every person I know owns one. This makes me wonder if people can get along with their lives without one. Businesses are upgrading to doing work on their phones. Companies have Blackberries and iPhones for company cell phones. People can make videos and tell stories on their phones. People are also constantly texting. In the last month I’ve sent over a thousand text messages and have spent over 40 days in time calling people.  And now with the new iPhone coming out, people are more obsessed than ever. Many people use cell phones as a means to escape life. Whenever someone is in an awkward situation like waiting at the doctor’s office or waiting in a room with people one is unacquainted with, a person could take out his or her cell phone and act like he or she is using it. I always see people on their cell phones when they’re in line or around a group of people. Pretending to text, pretending to read a news article, pretending to be on Facebook are just some of the ways people use their phones to avoid these types of situations. And then there’s the typical situation where teenagers is on their phone constantly while their parents are talking with them or where teenagers constantly listening to music. It’s like that teenagers are in their own world and doesn’t even pay attention to what their parents are saying to them. There’s even the phrase of being glued to one’s cell phone. At school, people are nonstop texting and communicating through networks on their phones. This applies to more and more people as they are constantly on their phone day and night. Nowadays, People have become so dependent on their phones that they’re practically on it every minute. Cell phones have become such a big part of people’s lives it has become a necessity. Without a phone, there’s no texting, no calling friends, no picture taking, no communicating with friends through social networks, no games, no music. There’s no escape from life. There’s no buttons to play with when things get awkward. There’s no device to constantly be on. It doesn’t seem like people would be able to survive without their cell phones to constantly be on.
