USE ALTERNATIVE FUELS, SAVE PLANET EARTH
We are all aware of the current state of our environment. Mother Earth is on the brink of total destruction brought about by pollution, irresponsible use of resources, and the excessive use of conventional fuel such as fossil fuel and nuclear energy. Part of the efforts to save our planet is to shift from using conventional fuels to alternative ones such as wind energy, solar, tidal, wave, oceal, thermal, dendrothermal, biogas and biodiesel, alcohol and gasohol, and agro/industrial wastes.
While others may argue that great amount is needed to make that shift, we should all realize that its long-term benefits far outweigh the cost of investment.
For instance, the windmills in Bangui have been providing energy to Ilocos Norte, making the region less dependent on conventional fuels. The windmills are very suitable in our country since we are an archipelago and we have many shores which can be used building sites.
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion is also another energy source that is apt for our country since we have many tropical communities. Of course, aside from the power that it generates, OTEC also contributes to the growth of marine life.
These are just some examples of the usefulness of alternative fuels. The bottomline is these are continually created by nature and are therefore renewable energy resources, and they are not harmful to the environment.
On the other hand, the use of conventional energy has long been causing damage to our environment. Burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming, can cause acid rain. It can also make the water dirty and air unhealthy as it creates metric tons of pollutants each day! As for the use of nuclear energy, we have seen the catastrophes brought about by the accidents in the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant in Ukraine and Fukushima Nuclear Plant in Japan. Most definitely, we cannot afford another similar tragedy!
The big question is, “Why will we...
