Because of the uneven distribution of wealth across countries around the world, a great digital divide was created. It comes with little surprise that those with the least amount of power economically are usually those who possess the least technological knowledge and hardware as well . Those countries that have more money in their economy can afford to produce, buy and sell computers, internet connections and other items related to ICT. Computers can vary when it comes to price and features, if there are more features then the price will be higher. On top of this you may have to pay for programs that you wish to use such as Photoshop or Microsoft Office. For example, laptops can range from prices of $400 USD to around $10,000 USD . For those that have a reasonable income and can easily afford to buy one of these products then no big deal is made but for those who have a low income people will have higher priorities. It will be more vital to buy food to live on everyday rather than buy a computer that they can’t afford and that will cost even more money to maintain.

79% of people within the 50 poorest nations in the world have no access to electricity . Therefore this whole audience of people is immediately unable to buy computers or anything even remotely related to ICT because in order for ICT to function, one of the fundamental components is electricity.
