Unsolved Murders: The Walker Family Murder
When we think of unsolved murders, we tend to think of isolated murders targeting a single victim. Mass murders tend to be messy and difficult to conceal. How could a mass murderer get away?

It turns out, history is full of mass murderers who did exactly that. Here is a list explaining 5 of the most mysterious unsolved mass murders. Stick around for number 1, the twist at the end makes it truly terrifying.

Number 5) The Walker Family Murder

The Walker Family was murdered in their home over Christmas, 1959. After returning from errands, Christine Walker let someone inside their home. This person raped and murdered her.

When Christine’s husband, Cliff, came home the killer immediately shot him in the head. The killer then shot and

Number 3) The Burnham and Wayne Family Massacre

On September 20, 1911, Alice May Turnham, her six-year-old daughter and three-year-old son were beaten to death with the blunt side of an axe. The dead were discovered by Alice’s sister, who then ran to the road to signal for help. People came from all around, except Henry and Blanche Wayne next door. The neighbors went into their house and found that they had been murdered with the same axe.

The method of the murders is curious. The killer violently beat the women and children to death with the blunt end of an axe, but took time to make the beds and tuck the corpses in before fleeing and leaving the axe–with an ink handprint–in the house for police to find.

Police had one suspect, AJ Burnham, Alice’s husband. He, however, was not charged. Much was made of his demeanor after being shown the murder scene. Apparently, Mr. Burnham simply walked around without showing any emotion, whatsoever. Another suspect is an as-of-yet unknown serial killer who killed 25 throughout the Northwest, and who rode the train to new

Number 2) The Keddie Murders

In 1981, Glenna Sharp, her daughter Tina, her son John, and John’s friend Dana Wingate were found dead in the cabin they had rented out. Tina was originally thought missing, but her bones were discovered three years later.

Sue, John and Dana were discovered in the cabin’s living room. They had been bound with medical tape and wire. A bloody hammer, a rifle pellet and pieces from a rifle barrel sight were found nearby. The killer had bludgeoned each person to death with one of two hammers and the butt of a rifle. Later, a bloody knife was found in the trash of a local general store.

Despite the breadth of evidence left around the cabin, no suspects have been named. All that exist are composite drawings of what police believe the suspects look like. Further, the movie The Strangers is loosely based upon this

Serial killers are a relatively rare, yet commonly publicized, part of our society. The media portrayal of serial killers skews the opinions and creates a stereotype of murderers for the public. James Knoll, MD states in his article, “Serial Murder: A Forensic Psychiatric Perspective”, that no evidence supports the idea that serial murder is a “growing epidemic” as people believe it is (qtd. in Johnson-Sheehan & Paine, “Writing Today”, pg 332). This misperception of serial killing was exhibited in the way the media portrayed the “Hillside Strangler”, a murderer who was killing women in the Los Angeles area by strangling them and leaving them nude in the hilly areas in 1977. The articles reporting the murders helped to cause fear in citizens by reporting extreme measures being taken by others, using strong language, and stressing the idea of a victim profile, all of which help the media excite or incite fear in the readers, rather than reporting the straight facts.…

Frist, mass murders can be solved by strictly controlling psychopaths. For instance, those who are having psychopathic disorders just have to be kept strictly at a mental hospital because psychopaths generally are unable to feel empathy or remorse, are egocentric and often abusive of others. Twelve people are killed and 58 are wounded in a shooting at an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater. This incident was because of neglecting a psychopathic security. Also, those who suspect as a psychopath not allowed to go outside unless a security approved by government. Strictly controlling psychopaths will go a long way to solving these problems.…
