Unsolved Cases: The Jonbenet Ramsey Case

The JonBenet Ramsey case is a mystery case of a child being murdered at the age of six year old. She was a beauty queen and came from a wealthy family. She was found dead in the basement of her home in Colorado in December 25, 1996. JonBenet’s body was discovered by her father and another friend of his when they were looking for her. Because this case has been unsolved since 1996, it has become one of the most famous unsolved cases in the 1990s. This case is still open today and many detectives are still trying to solve it, even twenty years after the incident. Also, it did not help that on weeks after the murder, it had snowed and they could not find any footprints outside the house. Later, the results of the autopsy revealed that JonBenet has eaten pineapple and detectives suggested that maybe her brother had something to do with her death. This was due that police found his fingerprints on a plate with pineapples. But the handwritten note demanding $118,000 did not seem as if a kid had written it. In addition to that, when they both had their handwriting checked to see if it matched the letter send by the killer, it demonstrated that John did not write it but it did match Patsy’s handwriting. However, in 2008, new DNA technology was used to help determine if both of them were involved, and it indicated that they were not. After the news of JonBonet’s death was published, the police at first could not find any prove to arrest the right suspect. After few months, a district attorney named Alex Hunter announced that they were going to keep investigating until they could find JonBonet’s killer. Few days after the announcement, Helgoth killed himself. Some detective took this action of his as a way to try to escape was from jail.
