Unit 3: Argumentative Writing—Issue/Defense Supporting Reasons Strategy
Paper is worth 25 percent of your grade.
Paper is due in class for in the D2L Dropbox by Thursday, Dec. 11, by 10:30 a.m.
Your folder is due in class on Wednesday or Thursday.
You cannot use your one-time late paper reprieve on this paper. Everything for the entire semester for Hacker and Sommers is due by Wednesday, Dec. 3, by 10:30 a.m. (no late postings accepted). Your score when I upload the grade report won’t count toward homework, but to your final Hacker and Sommers score (worth 15 percent of your final grade).
There may be a possible in-class peer review on Monday/Tuesday (Dec. 8/9); if not, peer reviews must be done outside of class. You must do at least two peer reviews, but you should consider doing more to make up for lost points. Each peer review is worth 150 points, and you should grade each out of 150.
Emphasis will be on how to apply logic and persuasive techniques in writing an effective reasoned argument, using legitimate research sources and following the argument strategy discussed in class.
Writing will focus on incorporating what has been learned thus far. This research paper can take a personal approach, but it does not have to.
