Information gathering is a key element when you are trying to find some hidden data about someone, a company, or even a school. In a university, I could determine what the internet protocol address range by going to a web browser and typing in WHOIS in the search engine. Afterwards I would click the WHOIS link and it will take me to a screen with a text search box where I would put in the domain name of the university and hit search. Then I should see the results and it will give me the university’s IP addresses in a range from beginning to end. If I wanted to retrieve data from the Domain Name System, I would log into one of their networks and go to the command line interface and use the nslookup command tool that will allow me to retrieve information from the DNS server saying what is the current server I am currently on and its IP address. In addition I could get more information just by using the nslookup…

Effective communication is vital to the smooth running of a business and various methods of communication are used within a business environment to achieve this. Each form has various benefits to communicate effectively to their designated target audience. When communication is carried out properly it means the sender and receiver both correctly obtain the same information. Each form of communication will be chosen to which is applicable to the situation for example for a one-to-one/ team meeting will be best carried out face-to-face as it is the most effective way to make sure a point is understood properly, as it is a lot more personal and professional. Therefore this wouldn't mean a employee would have to take time out of work and the messages can be sent on a large scale without taking much time to process.…

The term ‘agreed ways of working’ relates to the way an employee must work and the rules that they must adhere to. As an employee you should work in a way that is clearly set out in the job description – this will then mean that you know what areas of care you would be responsible for and those that should be reported to a higher member of staff etc. The ‘agreed ways of working’ have been set out in accordance with the policies and procedures of the care organisation, for example, the health and safety policies and procedures or the safeguarding of vulnerable adults. The employee will/ should be informed about any updates that will be put in place in the policies and procedures – this will usually be passed over in handover or in a staff meeting. The policies and procedures should be regularly updated, documented in hard form i.e. on paper, kept in a file and easily accessible to all staff. Informal supervisions, for example, observations, will enable the employer to identify the employee’s strengths and weaknesses; thus proving if they are working to the ‘agreed ways’. Appraisals can be just one formal way that offers both the employee and employer the opportunity to resolve the weaknesses through discussion and suggestions can be made for improvement.…
