3.3 There are many agencies that we work with to help with children and young peoples development. When we look at behavioural development, social interactions and speech development all these agencies link together. We use nursery transition days to help the child settle into their new environments and arrange intake visits and meetings with the school for a smoother transition. Social services is used if we have any concerns of a child's well being so then police and a designated social worker would also be involved. The health team are always on hand to help if any families need support with parenting or any development issues. They will then offer parents appropriate courses such as nurturing. At Playgroup we can point in the right direction of any help needed such as our family intervention officers who go into the family homes and will discuss any problems families may have. We run a language and play session which families are invited to where they can enjoy some one to one time with their child to do various activities that will enhance development and build parents confidence too. We have various teachers who can give us support too that work within flying start that can give advice on children's development and help observe children if we feel there are any problems. Also we can offer one to one support to children if they need it as many of us have had relevant training through senco.…

Responsive to participant needs. On their first day in our program, I make every effort to me4et and greet our clients, the parents as well as the children. I ask the parents if they need any special requirements, accommodations, or modifications to better service their children. Before the child enters the classroom, I make sure they know they are included. I post a welcome sign for each new child and their cubby is already labeled so they know where to store their belongings. Once the child has entered the classroom, I take another child and introduce them and then we all take a tour of the classroom. This gives us a time to get to know each other, I can find out their likes and dislikes, observe their interactions with other children, and begin to plan their development.…

I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions allowing growth in in their development of self and others. Each morning I ensure that I greet each child and parent when they arrive. In greeting the child I will always address the child by his/her name and encourage the other children to say good morning. I feel this gives the child and parent a sense of trust and security for a safe and secure environment and this acknowledgment makes the child feel special and welcome in the class. In the mornings I also have open centers where the children can go around and greet the other student and to move and work at their own pace. I also find some way to praise the class and each child daily. I provide opportunities for the children to always feel successful and proud of themselves. All children have different rates of development and different personalities. Knowing this can help us be patient. I show children that I really care about them by accepting each child as an individual. I help children with developing social skills, Self- control, problem-solving skills, and the ability to act independently.…

When working with young children we need to adjust our behaviour and communication to the situation we are in for example going down to a child’s level when speaking to them so they don’t feel intimidated by you. Coming across as approachable to a child is very important so they can feel confident around you and feel like they trust you. All children need to feel they are safe and appreciated and when we interact with them we should make sure we demonstrate this. It is important that we establish these relationships early on and that we continually behave this way with them, praising children is very important. All children of all abilities and cultures need to feel they are valued and are in a valued and a secure environment, you should exhibit this when interacting with them. It is important that your relationship with the children you work with starts off right! This means implementing ground rules and mutual respect from the start. You need to show interest and concern when interacting with children this can help to build trust. For example if a child is playing with building blocks on the floor I would ask them an open question that included praise like “that’s interesting, can you tell me what’s going on in the picture?” This encourages autonomy for the child to think for themselves and explore their own ideas and use of vocabulary. Offering choice to the child is important because more independent thinkers, and when they choose something they thrive at and enjoy this improves their self-esteem.…
