In my opinion, school uniforms are not needed in schools. In the first place, the cost could go up to at least $249 for shirts, pants, shoes, and any other requirements the chosen school has. For many families, uniforms are a financial burden, without uniforms many families could buy cheaper clothing. Also, for other families it could break the bank, many families have low income so they will definitely not be able to buy the average uniforms. Uniforms have a significant cost and can definitely not be paid by most families. In the second place, there will always be able a way to be unsafe at school. For …show more content…
In our rights as Americans we have the freedom of expression, if we cannot have our freedom of expression to just dress ourselves that the school districts are violating our rights as Americans. In explanatories we can choose the class yes, but when we are in the class we have very seldom chances to pick what we do in the class we cannot choose what we want to draw in art, we cannot pick what we sing in choir so what choices will we have if we cannot even dress ourselves. As we get older dressing ourselves will be more and more crucial, if we have job interviews and we do not know how to dress is because we will not have our previous knowledge as children. For students that have different sexuality, they may want to dress differently because of their sexuality, but that is where the situation comes in, with having different sexuality most tend to dress a little different, but with school uniforms they may not dress the way they feel needed too. School uniforms will not only affect our future, but it will affect how we

Public schools across the United States have been dealing with the issue of dress codes. As of 2008, twenty-two U.S. states specifically authorized schools to institute dress codes or uniform policies (8). School boards may generally create and enforce dress code, but they must do so without violating students’ constitutional law (9). Schools are finding difficulty in enforcing their dress code among students. Parents feel as if the schools dress codes are condoning their students for expressing themselves and say that it is unconstitutional and wrong. Parents, students, and administrators all have the idea of uniforms in the back of their mind but, they will have to give up things to have them. Though a dress code for high schools students is appropriate, uniforms would be a better option.…

They also don’t help with bullying and violence, they even make it worse. Lastly they don’t help with grades and attendance in school. There is no legitimate reason for schools to make their students wear these school uniforms and I believe that we should exclude school uniforms from all…

Have you ever attended a school where school uniforms were mandatory? The answer is probably yes, as during the 2013-2014 school year, one-fifth of public schools in the United States had to do so. As for me, from Kindergarten until 5th grade I had to wear a school uniform. But once 6th grade rolled around and I changed schools, uniforms were not enforced. I’ve seen both sides to this story, and believe that school uniforms are a controversial subject which can be easily contrasted. Some may think that school uniforms can help students succeed, while others think that they don’t alter the success of a student at all. No matter if a school enforces uniforms or opposes them, the education of the student is most important.…

The uniform option would be less expensive, because some local stores have special discounts(Palka NP). Around the time school is starting back, there are a lot of stores that give discounts on school uniforms. This helps the families save money. It would save families a ton of money is schools would ban brands, labels, or insignia for school uniforms(Wilkins 19). Most kids when school comes around want to go back to school clothe shopping. Kids feel the need to buy what everybody else is wearing and sometimes that can get expensive. President Clinton addressed this problem, "If it means that teenagers will stop killing each other over designer jackets, then our public schools should be able to require their students to wear uniforms"(Wilkins 19). Having school uniforms that require a certain brand and or banning students from wearing brands would solve this problem. Some families are not wealthy enough to buy their kids new clothes or even school uniforms. Most schools(who require uniforms) provide uniforms to the families who are not as wealthy as others(Uniforms Rule”72). This helps the families who are struggling with money to afford their kids clothes for school. School uniforms would be any easy fix if one was looking to save money and if one was having money…

One of the major causes of money wasting is from the purchasing of school uniforms. Uniforms cost a lot because the majority of parents have to buy a set of winter, summer and sport uniforms for their children. They also waste money when children grow older, thus making them have to buy new sets of uniforms every so often. In some cases, when a few children do not have any uniforms the right size for them, they have to get one especially made for them which makes the cost even higher. In the modern age of American society, schools are taking on this rising idea of having students wear school uniforms instead of regular clothes. Why should students sit miserably at their desks, listen to the dull sound of teachers, do school work, and on top of all that have to wear uncomfortable school uniforms? Other than reducing teasing and bullying, wearing uniforms do not have many benefits. In America’s schools, students should not be forced to wear uniforms because they take away a student’s sense of individuality, the uniforms do not allow for self-expression, and buying the uniforms absolutely do not save families any money.…
