Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
1.1. Explain the functions of assessment in learning and development:

In this assessment the Assessor is aware that the assessment is taking place in an environment where the clients are having learning difficult .The age group is post 18 years .

During the initial assessment, I the assessor wil introduce myself to the learner’s and ensure that they understand what the course is. The role of the assessor is to explain all the units to the learner’s and support them in choosing the most suitable units. The assessor and the candidate must then decide on an assessment plan. This will include setting dates and times to meet with the learner’s ’s ability, consideration will be provided with regards to date and time, as the learner’s s have learning difficult and may need short breaks, will be told to them that they can ask for it or as an Assessor I will have to observe that the learner’s needs are met.

Agreeing on the best assessment methods for learner’s s with learning difficult.

Be being the Assessor may use observation, question the learner’s and examine their work. Given a feedback straight with a positive note , as mentioned the learner’s s requirement as a learner’s with learning difficult the best practice to give the feedback on ever stage based on the learner’s s moods and body language .Sometime this make not be correct so assessment method make change as per requirement. Based on the above the learner’s will submitted an assignment or evidence. I the assessor must review it to ensure that the learner’s has done what was asked of them and to ensure that it is in line with the assessment criteria. I as an assessor then needs to provide the learner’s with feedback on how they have done. It is important for the assessor to be encouraging and give constructive feedback. A feedback form will be used at this stage with agreement with the learner’s . As an assessor I can recommend ways of improvement, log what agreements have been made with the learner’s and set a deadline. My duties as an assessor will need me to cross reference the work with the assessment criteria to ensure that the learner’s s engaged in work and evidence is reliable and valid and proves that the learner’s is competent in the unit.

1.2 Define the key concepts and principles of assessment

Depending on the subject and the level of the learner’s take into that the learner’s s have learning difficult. I has an assessor need to plan or invent different ways of assessing to ensure that the learner’s s have gained the skills and knowledge they need and to also ensure that the assessment method being used is fair, relevant, valid and safe. The assessment needs to be fit for purpose, to motivate and the guide the leaners. I as an assessor do not want to disadvantage the learner’s and must take into account the characteristics of the learner’s s. It needs to be consistent and relevant to what is being assessed.

Has an assessor I cannot be swayed to give the learner’s s an easier assessment because they favors the learner’s .

The assessment process may have to be adapted to be suitable to the learner’s ’s needs but, needs to eventually lead to the same outcome.

1.3. Explain the responsibilities of the assessor.

The key responsibilities of the Assessor can be best defined in three categories: Planning Assessing Feedback

My role as an assessor is to assess the learner’s ’s knowledge and performance in a range of tasks. This includes,

▪ Ensuring that the learner’s has demonstrated competence and knowledge in the assessment to the standard of the Awarding body criteria.
