1.1. Explain how a working relationship is different from a personal relationship:
Working relationships are based on formal policies and procedures and agreed ways of working. A working relationship is professionally based. E.g. a responsibility of a support worker is to deliver a high standard of service to the individual. In a working relationship you would know your role and responsibility and would not share personal information.
Personal relationships are based on emotions and are informal. You can be who you are with your friends and family. You can share your personal information with them. In a personal relationship you share support, feelings and thoughts.
1.2. Describe different working relationships in social care settings:
There are many different relationships in social care settings. This includes the relationship between the support worker and the individuals, the support worker and other health care professionals e.g. GP, nurses, dietician and podiatry. The relationship between a support worker and the individuals family, colleagues and management is a working relationship. For each of these you have to develop a different kind of working relationship, but in the end it is always professional.
2.1.Describe why it is important to adhere to the agreed scope of the job role: It is important to adhere to the agreed scope of your job role as you have agreed your job description written in your employment contract. It is a legal requirement to work within it. By following your job role you are working alongside the companies policies and procedures and giving the best quality of care you can. For instance if I were asked to change a dressing on a wound, and had not been trained to do this, I may cause harm to the service user, I would accountable for this, not just my employer. I never undertake any task that I have no experience
