Unbroken: Movie Analysis
The movie Unbroken revolves around the life of US Olympian and athlete Louis "Louie" Zamperini. The film opens showing Louie flying as a bomb aimer of a United States Army Air Forces B-24 Liberator bomber, during an April 1943 bombing mission against the Japanese-held island of Nauru. The plane he is abroad becomes seriously damaged resulting in many of the crew members becoming fatally injured. The hydraulics of the plane are shot and damaged, but the pilot, Phil, manages to salvage the plane at the end of the runway due to a flat tire.

    “Silver Linings Playbook” Just as the title says it, “silver lining”. What is it? It is seeing the bright side of things, see the positive thing at every situation. “You have to do everything you can. You have to work your hardest. If you stay positive, you have a shot at a silver lining.” In a session with his therapist, Pat expresses his view on life. While it might not read as very optimistic, Pat’s attitude throughout the book is quite positive, and he says this as he has his commitment to improving his life. This quote reminds me that although life will be hard and our relationships will be difficult, there is joy to be found, if you work for it. Another really impacting lesson I found was that we all need someone to be crazy with. Pat and Tiffany bond over the one thing they initially seem to have in common “mental health medication”. Pat is drawn to Tiffany because she's the only one at that dinner table who's not secretly judging him. Throughout the book, they complete each other in the touching way that only two people that truly understand each other can. And this completing, this chemistry, this electricity, this understanding, that’s what makes a “Silver Linings Playbook” Just as the title says it, “silver lining”. What is it?
