UCLA Research Project
UCLA which the full official name is University of California, Los Angeles is located in the Westwood. It is five miles from the Pacific Ocean and has a beautiful scene. UCLA’s official colors are blue and gold. The famous motto is a bear called Joe Bruin. He stands for the spirit of the school.
UCLA is found in 1919 as a public university. However, the earliest school is just known as the Los Angeles branch of California State Normal School in 1881. In 1887, the school became the Los Angeles State Normal School. Later on, some state’s official began working together to lobby the Legislatures to permit the school become the second University of California campus. It did not achieve at first but it was done eventually. On May 23, 1919, the school was turned into the Branch of the University of California. The enrollment developed rapidly as the Regents search for a new location. Then the Regents renamed the campus the “University of California at Los Angeles”.
On the ranking of USA public university, UCLA is at the top two. According to the most widely known list published by U.S. News & World Report, we can see that UCLA is placed at number 24 of the best universities. Many of UCLA’s graduate programs are also placed in highest ranks. There are 59 UCLA programs evaluated by the NRC, 40 of them are ranked at the top 10. The students there also have a colorful life in near 850 registered student organizations and the school also offers many services including women’s center, placement service, day care, health service and campus safety like 24-hour foot.
The total number of undergraduate students in UCLA is 26,162. 55% of the students are females and 45% of them are males. 6% of them are international students from 71 different countries. The total number of faculty there is 2,595 and more than half of them are males and full-time. The ratio of
