For my post-secondary schooling, I have been accepted into, and planning to attend, Georgia Southern University. I chose this school for many different reasons, and going to orientation expanded those reasons. Georgia Southern offers many great opportunities for what I want to do in life. The campus is about an hour away from where I currently live, so it is close to home but not too close to home. The professors and staff are friendly and want to see the students succeed and are always ready to help. I could go on and on about why I chose this school, but I believe…

The two colleges I am considering attending are West Virginia University (WVU) and Fairmont State University (FSU). These colleges are at the top of my list because members of my family have attended both these schools and I have family that lives in that area of West Virginia. I like both Fairmont State and West Virginia. They both have the things that I am looking for in a college, but of the two, I am leaning to West Virginia University. I am leaning to picking WVU because they have the special type of engineering I want to pursue and Fairmont State does not. The special type of engineering I am interested in pursuing is…

I'm attending Spoon River College for many reasons. I have chosen three reasons why and they are as follows. First reason is it is a smaller college than most colleges and universities in the area. The second reason is that they offer the same classes at Spoon that they offer at the other schools. My third and final reason is I don't have to travel out of town for my classes yet. These are the reasons i will be describing in the following paragraphs. Spoon River College has the most respectful, helpful, faculty that a school can have, i think. The instructors at Spoon River College are a lot more helpful and understanding than those at the other schools. They also help you pick out your classes which is also helpful.…

I am big on seeing family, so it made it easier for me to stay closer to see all of them. Not only me, but most people who attend Southwest community college have jobs can not just up and quite to go and get a further education at a four year university. At Southwest it makes it easier for teenagers and adults that have part time and also full time jobs to get a degree. I live at home still, but most people out of high school still live at home as well. By attending Southwest it is only fifteen minutes from my house to the college, so it really does not make me have to get an apartment closer to it. At Southwest it really makes spending the smaller holidays with your loved ones easy. Yes, I get out for major holidays, but I have elderly family that will not be here forever, so it gives me the pleasure of spending time with…

    Why I Chose Jcsu

The reason I chose to attend a historically black college/university is simply because of the reputation historically black colleges and universities hold of being one big family. At other state or non HBCU schools you may find that students feel like they are just a number. I know people who generally love their non HBCU schools because of the various job opportunities, networking, etc. that they are exposed to while being there; but they complain about not having relationships with their professors and not feeling apart of the school as a person. At an HBCU you walk in knowing that you are moving into a home away from home. You know those kinds of neighborhoods you see on TV where the neighbors randomly bring you cakes and pies on move in day? That’s how I felt my freshman year moving to Johnson C. Smith University. I graduated high school searching for a sense of belonging and I knew I could get that at an HBCU. The personal concern we have for one another to succeed is a beautiful thing that you may not find any other place but at a historically black college. At HBCUs students seem to receive more support. I get help not only from my colleagues but also from my advisors, mentors, and professors. That’s all I really wanted. I had and still have the will to succeed and do what it takes to graduate and be successful but I needed that push. I needed to attend a school where people cared if I was there and cared when I wasn’t. I didn’t want to waste four years of my life feeling stressed, overwhelmed and alone. With me it wasn’t so much about the big parties and homecoming events the school could offer but simply whether or not I’d have people around me who were just as economically challenged, just as negatively judged by society, but also just as driven to succeed as I was; people who were willing to help me along the…

There comes a time in students’ lives where they have to make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. This may be to follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest African American figures at an HBCU, or to obtain a general education from one of the wide range predominantly white universities. Although attending college is the primary goal for most students, choosing the right institution to attend can be the hardest decision to make. The choice of finding the best university to accommodate their needs is definitely a tough decision. However, by analyzing the polarizing differences in the institutions, students can clearly understand the dissimilarities of attending an HBCU rather than a PWI.…

When trying to decide which college to attend one of the most important things to figure out is if you want to attend a small college campus or a large college campus. Are you the type of person that looks foward to going to college to meet lots of new people or being up in the stands with thousands of other people cheering on your school basketball or football team? Or are you the type of person who likes getting to know all your classmates and professors and getting more one on one time with the professors to ask each and every question you have? These are some of the things you need to think about when choosing whether or not you want to go to a small or large campus.…

Not only will I be able to get a scholarship, $9,000, but I also get instate tuition because I live in Arizona. Therefore instead of paying an extra $10,000 for tuition, I will only have to pay about $11,278. With the extra money I save I can put it towards bills and my savings for graduate school. Having this extra money will allow me to starting paying my own bills and tuition, and will give me a sense of being an adult. I will also be able to find a job easily; there are multiple cities in Arizona. If I cannot find one in Tempe, I can always look in Phoenix or Chandler or Scottsdale. If I were to go to another college, for instant the University of Arizona, I would have a very slim chance of finding an internship because it is not very populated outside of the university and the competition to find job would increase significantly. Then in cases of emergency I can be home within in twenty minutes, unlike my sister, Tiffany. If there was an emergency it would take Tiffany at least two hours to drive home from U of A. This means I will be able to make home in time for parties, events, and emergencies. It will also allow me to visit you more often. Instead of just seeing me on holidays or vacations, I can come home more…

There are many reasons to attend college, for many of us we are pushed by our parents to acquire the highest level of education, possibly an education they haven't acquired themselves. We are taught at an early age that education is the "only" way to achieve success. I think that is no way to push a person to go to school. I believe we all have a choice to choice what we want to do, and not be lied to by our parents, nor society to become who ever we are meant to be, whatever path we may take, may it be through an educational institution or through other means we all have reasons to attend "college".…
