Ubuntu Cloud Case Study
Cto setup an OpenStack based not the eucalyptus, cloud environment. MAAS deals with the raw metals or les of operating system or machines without the installed operating system. MAAS is made with easy way to deploy nodes and these nodes can be updated or retired from installed system with a single click [21]. MAAS turns on machines itself by using wake-on-lan technology and prepares the machines for further use for the cloud. Furthermore Juju con gures desired machine and it deploys ap- plication and services on these machines using juju charm con guration. Juju means magic exactly to deploy the applications and services. Juju uses charms to deploy the services on the machines which are prepared by MAAS. Juju charm o ers 209 [34] di erent …show more content…
Ubuntu Cloud Infrastructure has made it very easier to use the appications. Applications on the client machines can be moved up and down on the go. More nodes as clients can be added very easily for the extension of the virtual lab.
1.4 Problem Statement:
What are current challenges faced by the system administrators of the colleges to store the data, who wants to deploy OpenStack with Ubuntu Cloud Infrastructure in the labs to create virtual environment is the question [34] [8]. What could be the possible e ects and solution of these challenges? What are the possible solutions to deploy the open stack for cloud can be implemented. What are the current issues in the installation of MAAS [19] (Metal As A Service) and Juju, while using theses platforms in a virtual environment? How could be the possible reasons and solution to these problems? How these problems can be xed or removed by implementing the possible solutions?
Canonical platform has produced Ubuntu Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS) for non- virtual environment. This technology does not work out of the box of the cloud, when it is directly used in a di erent environment than. The rst question is to nd the challenges while deploying the cloud as an OpenStack based cloud using Ubuntu

So how will be easy to con gure, fast and simple it is to deal with MAAS and Juju in the virtual environment?
Now the actual goal by developing private cloud is to decrease the cost physical expenses of labs such as servers, clients which are designed by administrator nowadays by the traditional ways, which increases the actual cost of labs by increasing the phys- ical machines [21][34] in examination period like online examination of University. So to decrease the cost, private cloud can be implemented for the storage of data and for further access of applications. It will decrease the cost of design, infrastructure, and maintenance of the labs.
1.5 Existing system:
College consists of various department like computer, mechanical, electronic, elec- trical etc. Each department has di erent computer labs like language lab, server lab, experimental lab .Each branch requires di erent software, which are purchased by the college which needs to be installed on every computer of di erent labs

Virtualization is a way to pool a few physical servers by creating a virtual environment to accomplish the same task instead of using many individual servers. Currently, each server has their own set of tasks or programs to run and none of them intersects with each other, which can lead to some servers being underutilized while others are idle because no request are sent to the servers. Creating a virtual machine (VM) can reduce the physical network load by shifting network traffic to the internal virtual net. For example, the receptionist attempting to answer five incoming calls at the same time, while the mail room clerk sits by idly waiting for the employee or the postman to drop off mail before the clerk can start to distribute the mail out to the various departments. In this example, the receptionist is overwork while the mail clerk is not. Virtualization can fix this by allowing multiple servers to operate on one physical server using virtualization technology. Virtualization creates stable computing service and is growing into the desktop and storage area networks (SANs) environment. Virtualization is usually done through hosted virtualization used by market leader VMware or hypervisor used by Microsoft which is installed directly on the x86 server. The company will need to decide on which virtualization technology they will deploy in the datacenter.…

Cloud computing offers software and hardware resources and in some cases human services over a distributed environment that can be shared and utilized on demand through internet. Business owners can use these resources as per their requirement even if that is for few hours a day or few days a month and have to pay only for that actual use. Thus this relatively new concept is becoming highly popular among IT organizations because of its flexibility and cost effectiveness. It is highly scalable and also can span quickly according to the requirements of individual organization yet still sharing the same resources.…

the tools to enhance the capability for an organization to grow utilizing strategies known as software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) . These strategies are all a part of system virtualization. As I search the Internet, I found a good depiction of what each strategy offers to the organization and for this discussion I would like to share it , as I did when I answered question one on incorporating cloud computing. “Cloud Computing is a broad term that describes a broad range of services. As with other significant developments in technology, many vendors have seized the term “Cloud” and are using it for products that sit outside of the common definition. In order to truly understand how the Cloud can be of value to an organization, it is first important to understand what the Cloud really is and its different components. Since the Cloud is a broad collection of services, organizations can choose where, when, and how they use Cloud Computing. In this report we will explain the different types of Cloud Computing services commonly referred to as…

“There was a time when every household, town, farm or village had its own water well. Today, shared public utilities give us access to clean water by simply turning on the tap; cloud computing works in a similar fashion.” That was the analogy used by Vivek Kundra, Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the United States Government to depict the use of cloud computing in today’s society. As the corporate world has embarked on the interactive platform of Web 2.0, some companies are progressing one step ahead to experiment data communication with cloud computing. What is cloud computing? According to Mache Creeger in the article “Cloud Computing: An Overview”, cloud computing refers a model of shift in the delivery of architecture of information services and data for economic reasons (Creeger, 2009). In this paper, I will present a brief overview of how cloud computing operate, the role of cloud computing in telecommunication industry, the advantages and challenges involved in its implementation.…

And like many, they found it a challenge to provide an encompassing definition for cloud computing. Foster et al. defined cloud computing as, “A large-scale distributed computing paradigm that is driven by economies of scale, in which a pool of abstracted, virtualized, dynamically-scalable, managed computing power, storage, platforms, and services are delivered on demand to external customers over the Internet”; while SYS-CON Media Inc., 2008 [2] provided a list of definition from twenty one subject matter experts. Nevertheless, there was a general consensus [1][2][3] that cloud computing could be characterized by its very large scale, virtualization, versatility, scalability, on-demand, high performance, and low storage and usage costs.…

Cloud computing is an emerging computing technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain data and applications. Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use applications without installation and access their personal files at any computer with internet access. This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth. Cloud computing is broken down into three segments: "applications," "platforms," and "infrastructure." Each segment serves a different purpose and offers different products for businesses and individuals around the world. In June 2009, a study conducted by VersionOne found that 41% of senior IT professionals actually don 't know what cloud computing is and two-thirds of senior finance professionals are confused by the concept[ highlighting the young nature of the technology. In Sept 2009, an Aberdeen Group study found that disciplined companies achieved on average an 18% reduction in their IT budget from cloud computing and a 16% reduction in data center power costs.…
