Ancient Family Feud Causes the Deaths of Two of It's Members

Tragedy struck Verona today as a brawl between Tybalt Montague and Mercutio (friend of the Capulets) cost them their lives. Romeo Montague is to blame for the tragic deaths of these two men. Prince Esculas stated that his punishment is to be exile from Verona forever.

Romeo’s cousin Benvolio reports that the fight began after being provoked by Mercrutio. When the young Romeo Montague arrived on scene, he quickly interviened by holding back Mercutio. Unfortunatly, Tybalt took this as an opportunity to stab Mercutio through Romeo’s arms. Romeo later murdered Tybalt as an act of vengeance.

Romeo later stated that Mercutio continuously repeated, “A plaque o’ both your houses.” This testified that the cause of his death was because of the ancient feud between the two houses; since he was not a member of either house, he had the right to insult (not sure this is the right word) them.

The Prince, who believes that Verona has seen enough of this rivalry, banished Romeo as a way of avoiding conflict in the future.
