Tutti And Hutu Differences
when the Europeans arrived, they based the differences in Tutsi and Hutu to be one of racial distinction and not of social class. Although, members of either group could move within the system either by marriage or through wealth.
The difference between the two groups could be identified physically to a certain degree. However, it wasn’t always obvious. Tutsi’s were “traditionally cattle owners ( cattle was a symbol of wealth), while the hutu were agriculturalists.” At times, however, “a rich hutu could be identified as Tutsi and a poor Tutsi as hutu.[ footnote: lots information regarding the distinction was very confusing, sometimes they were differentiated by occupation, other times by wealthy. It’s unclear when this distinction started)

But the language the author uses here is more complex. If the first one divided the Tuareg in just two groups, here we find that their society is composed by a multitude of individual tribes with different languages and customs depending on location. Traditionally, the society was divided in nobles, vassals and slaves. Because the last group was formed by black Africans, it still has a negative impact on today's society even if the French largely ended this practice in the early 20th…

Throughout history, many people from the same country have immigrated to different lands where their new lifestyles had very little in common. This was obvious in the settlement of the New England and Chesapeake colonies before 1700 which caused the development of dissimilar societies. The people of New England and the Chesapeake colonies formed different governments upon arrival to North America. They had different motives and incentives for immigrating to America. The composition of the colonists of New England and the Chesapeake area were nothing like one another during the settlement of the colonies.…

Sociological boundaries were another set of boundaries that both groups had to face. Samoans and Hopi Indians are similar in many ways, but there are 3 similarities that stick out from all the others. One of these similarities is that both of these cultures grew up in an environment where they have to do hard labor. They are both not very well off money wise, and when they come home after their day they are usually put to work doing chores or any kind of labor. Another similar characteristic that Samoans and Hopi Indians share are that they are born with a genetic disadvantage. Samoans were born on a tropical island, they play football year round, and genetics evolved to give them an advantage. Hopi Indians were born way above sea level, which increased their lung capacity, which also gives them a big advantage when it comes…

Moreover, the differences expanded exponentially because of the wealth cash crops brought to landowners who strived to create political and social standing in a new world. For example, South Carolina became the wealthiest colony in North America because of their cash crop, rice. Rich whites in South Carolina were richer than anywhere else in the colonies and this was mainly because of the labor of slaves. These cash crops fundamentally contributed to the economy and commerce of the colonies. With all this wealth, people gathered political and social standing. Everyone’s understood status in the colonies formed groups that intertwined. Free blacks formed family communities with other free blacks; while patron-client relationships involved almost…

The Hutu were of the higher class coming from more money. I feel like a lot of what happened throughout the movie had to do with bribes and who they were too, so that one could get what they wanted, the other needed something in exchange. Paul pretty much had to buy his family back from the military, as well as giving him the best Scotch around which stands as a bribe. The general cared only for himself and his safety.…
