Based on the model that has been given in the textbook (Exhibit 6.3-The Value Chain), below is a value chain of Turkish Airlines.
Primary Activities: * Operations: Turkish Airlines operates schedule services to over 200 international and 50 destinations, serving total of 265 airports in Europe, Asia, Americas and Africa. * Marketing and Sales: After getting award of best airlines company in Europe, the Turkish Airlines has been focused on to have sponsorship with biggest soccer teams which are Barcelona FC and Manchester United and they also had a TV commercials with Lionel Messi and Kobe Bryant . With this strategy, Turkish Airlines have had more costumers in Europe, England and Americas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQLG37rM5hw * Service: When you have a flight with Turkish Airlines, they just care about how safe and how comfortable you are going to arrive to your destination. Based on their costumer populations and their market share, it basically shows their successful service quality.
Support Activities: * General Administration: Based on my researches, Turkish Airlines has 53% international market share and 53% domestic market share. If I consider their market growth, there is a obvious increase from 2003 to since now. http://www.turkishairlines.com/download/investor_relations/presentations/june_2011.pdf * Human Resources Management: Based on Turkish Airline’s currently employee profile, they have 8128 flight personnel, 1975 overseas personnel, 5634 other domestic personnel which make it total of 15737 personnel. http://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/corporate/career/current-employee-profile * Turkish Airlines Corporate Development and Information Technologies Department has currently 44 employees who are qualified to work on different information technology platforms and who has different skills to coming up with new creative ideas for improving their system as well as developing the solutions.
