Tulane: The Limitless City Of New Orleans
All of my life, I have been stuck in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Although I have visited the city a plethora of times in my life, Philadelphia has its limits. I am ready to go beyond these limits and embark on the adventure that Tulane has prepared for me. Tulane is minutes away from the one of the most diverse cities in the world. At Tulane, I will be able to venture out of my comfort zone and explore the limitless city of New Orleans. The community of New Orleans is one that is lively and rich in culture, which translated to the community at Tulane. I love that Tulane’s student body is made up of students from all around the world. It puts me at ease knowing that mostly everyone else has traveled a lengthy distance and won’t be going home

All my life I have lived Pearl, MS. I never went out of state for vacation, even though I have always wanted to travel and explore the world. Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to go to my parent’s hometown: Santa Catharina, OA. My parents would always show me pictures and videos of their hometown that infatuated me. I would constantly ask my parents to take me, until they finally took me on thanksgiving break. When I arrived to Santa Catharina, I did not expect to see the immense amount of difference that I perceived. The city of Pearl has different geography, cars, and opportunities from Santa…

Being an outsider is challenging anywhere in the world. Getting used to the food, the culture, or even the language is something that requires time and effort. New Orleans is a place that regardless where you are from, its people make you feel welcome. In some places, they would try to teach you their traditions, but in most of the cases you will learn by just looking around because almost everyone would be engage in them. I would say the connection between the people and the culture is what makes New Orleans a great city. Sara Roahen is an example of an outsider that fell in love with the city and tried to fit the culture in all the possible ways she could, as it is illustrated in her story: "Crawfish: A Crawfish Is a Darned Beast!"…

I enjoy it everyday twice as much as I did the day before, and attending a college from the UC branch would be my ultimate goal, a path that would allow me to continue my ongoing discovery of the Golden State. With a multicultural background, having been taught in Spanish, French and French- American International schools, and fluently speaking these three languages, I have the opportunity to attend many universities in Europe. However; my attraction towards this state has led me to ultimately choose the UC’s as my college destination, where I would not only be an enthusiastic component, but a multicultural academic…

Louisiana State University is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The advantages to the Advantages to the placement of the college are insurmountable, while the same can be said of about the disadvantages. For a student living in state, the traveling to and from college may not be a serious factor to consider, but for one wishing to attend LSU from out of state, the drive to and from may, at times, be a deciding factor in whether or not the school is for them. A big advantage of the college being in a big city is the fact there are job opportunities everywhere, as well as potential living spaces and things to do if one has extra time. There are fast food chains and super stores all over one can choose from as well as there being libraries, tourist shops, and various other small businesses, etc. that will likely always be hiring, considering Baton Rouge is a big city as well as the capital of Louisiana. The disadvantages one moving to Baton Rouge face seem to be fewer, but add up much more quickly. The crime rate in Baton Rouge is extremely high. This puts the city at being safer than only 4% of all US cities (Baton Rouge Crime Rates and Statistics). Other than the high crime rate, money may be a serious issue for those wishing to live in Louisiana’s capital from out of state. While the cost of living and housing are 8% and 13% lower than…

Yet Donald Trump remained silent all weekend on the worst U.S. humanitarian crisis since Hurricane Katrina crushed New Orleans. When I started to look for colleges during high school, I took an unconventional approach towards finding the university that I wanted to attend. My first visit to New Orleans was by accident after my parents canceled our summer trip to Santa Fe because they did not think the food there was good enough. They asked if New Orleans was a better alternative and I jumped at the idea of being in a city that supposedly is rich in ghost . After my first trip, I fell in love with the people, atmosphere, and most importantly the city. The next three years, my family and I came to New Orleans any chance we had, during spring break, winter vacation, and the summer. New Orleans became a place where my imagination was replenished after spending my whole life in Houston. The way I connected to New Orleans was through the distinct architecture and historical presence that I felt through my everyday experiences in the city.…

Beaufort, South Carolina may be a very passive town, but it’s exactly where I should be when pursuing my Master’s. USC accepted me because during high school, I received remarkable grades while being in honors classes, and while having many different extra-curricular activities. I’m more focused here because throughout middle school and high school, I learned to flourish in such an environment. Beside that point, I’ve already started forming relationships with students and staff in the schools on the Laurel Bay military base. I would love to intern and possibly research in schools where I’m currently working. I would love to replicate research experiments previously done on Camp Pendleton and see how they may differ from a base in a much smaller town. Being in Beaufort will bring new perspectives to the table, as well as new research material. In the next five years, I would have already attained my MSW and would have moved to Jacksonville, NC. I want Jacksonville to be my permanent residence because it fulfills my professional demands, as well as my social desires. It is not too far from my parents, it's near a military base, and it is also only four hours away from the largest city in North Carolina, Charlotte. I would have…
