Trying To Master
In life trying to master something does not just come out of no where. You actually have to try to get there and grow as a person with going beyond what you have already done. I do agree with this quote. To me growing as a person would be doing what you do best but bigger and better than before. Mastering something only makes you grow it would never bring you down as a person. The only way I can and will grow as a person is if I master my fear of being who I am. For example, I take what other people say to me serious and it only brings me down. To better my self i need to master my fear of taking what other people say about me and just build confidence and grow. Taking the opinion of others into consideration will not let me become …show more content…
Some people don't want to master beyond what they have already done but that dose not define who they are. You can grow from mastering the specific things you want to master you don't have to go beyond but possibly going beyond will make you better than the person you were before. The quote " unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.' says in my opinion, you will never get some where if you don't master anything in life. For example if I don't try to at least do the career I have always wanted to do I wont grow. I wont be who I thought I was going to be. It only takes time to master the things you want to do and during that time you will grow from everything you have done. So sitting around and not doing anything with my life or not achieving my goals is not growing. You actually have to put your self out their and do what you think you should do to grow. Most people actual go above and beyond what they have already mastered and they become the person they never thought they would be. Mastering what you want does make you grow. I will not let anyone stop me from trying to master who I want to be and where you want to go. All i am worried about is me

And the last but not least is that if you always keep true to yourself, you will develop self-confidence and integrity. I think this means that being yourself, and not what everybody expects you to be makes you a better person, an integral person, and you will develop your self-esteem, so you will believe in to the values, beliefs and attitudes that we hold about ourselves, without carrying about what people might think.…

“WHOA WHOA WHOA THIS IS BALONEY MAN!” that is something I say whenever I am frustrated. People have always told me sometimes the best way to learn something is through failure. People value things they have accomplished differently. Often the people whom are naturally adept at things do not realize how much of a struggle it can be for others. Many times when people have told me that if you are going to fall, fall forward. Do not let your insecurities, doubts, and pride get in the way of improving yourself. In brief, there can always be a way to improve yourself.…

This quote is one of those rare things that I, personally, agree with one hundred percent. I watch people get pushed around everyday at out high school and that is only because people are afraid of speaking up for themselves. People who are shy and do not like speaking up are usually the ones who are not as successful and most likely to fail. Those people are the kinds of people that are called “losers” in our society. We live in a society that enjoys pushing others around—we live in a horrible society. There is nothing to do about that except for speaking up for your self.…

Before I adopted the aphorism into my life, I did not like to task risks and go the extra mile while doing my work. As I progressed in school, I learned you have to do more than just the work assigned in order to fully understand and succeed in a certain area. Now that some of us are currently young we have many dreams we…

Marrianne Williamson in her book, “Return to Love” and I quote, wrote, “Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?” I first stumbled upon this quote during one of my times of feeling deeply insignificant among my high school population. I decided that constantly feeling as though you are insignificant leads to you becoming insignificant. I am a believer that the mind is a very powerful thing and I plan to use this belief a self confidence to encourage those around me to do nothing but their best because the minute you start believing your worst is your best, it in fact becomes the best you can do.…

Author Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." I think that Emerson is trying to say that if one never tries to exceed their limits they will never grow. Mastering something is an accumulation of things, as time progresses you build on what you have learned and what you know. I agree with Emerson because he or she will never know what they are capable of, he or she will make more money if make more money if they master something, and they may regret their decision. If one does not try they may never know what they are capable of. If I stopped trying I would not be able to do basic math, but because I kept trying I am now in advanced math. Many great scientist,…

Mark Twain said, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” Twain had the belief that people need to surround themselves with others who will encourage them to be their best. Those who belittle others who are in pursuit of something ambitious are not the kind of people who are pursuing their own passions and desires. Those are people that may never have received words of encouragement to set their feet down and run. Also, those who belittle others ambitions have not had someone to walk alongside them in life and speak greatness to them. They have not been around the great ones themselves. The small are missing something that they cannot see. The influence of people around us can encourage us to greatness or easily help us to believe we are inept at achieving something bigger than what we know.…

There are two major examples of this quote being true in my own life. The first way that I find this to be true would have to be when I was entering the 6th grade. My dad wanted me to join the football team and be a football star like he was in his middle school and high school years, I on the other hand was so sick of hearing about how great he was and how football was the only sport that was really important because it makes you a real man. I did what any kid who has an attitude problem does after hearing this; I joined the soccer and tennis team just for spite.…

    Ralph Waldo Emerson Quote

A coach can master football plays and his team can become undefeated, but he can extend and grow the game of football by creating new plays. See now that is real growth and Emerson was right about that if that is what he meant by it. When I first read the quote that was my initial interpretation of it, but when I review statements like that I personally interpret it in a logical way. Never being able to grow unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered seems illogical to me. I mean, if you have mastered something don't you have to grow and attain knowledge you were blind of before? That is why I believe he wrote it incorrectly. When I read the word "never" I instantly contradicted his opinion. I mean, if I never grew even after mastering something, did I really master it? You see, Emerson's opinion could be right or significantly wrong. It all depends if you read it like I did, or if you read it with more open thought. That's what makes it a bad quote to me. It makes you over think what he's trying to say to the point that you can be agreeing, or in my case, disagreeing with a completely different statement. Although he can make sense in a way, all in all…

Another reason this quote has merit is that it talks about how internalized thoughts can become words and then actions. This is present when the author says, "Watch your thoughts, for they become words." This simple truth is impactful on the reader and can cause reflection on one's own thoughts. This part of the quote also influences positive thinking which will lead to positive behavior. For this reason this quote holds water even today.…
