True Accomplishments In Eeyore's Life
“Eeyore Attitude gets in the way of things like wisdom and happiness, and pretty much prevents any sort of real accomplishment in life.” (Benjamin Hoff pg 16). Eeyore practically lives in the opposite realm compared to that of Pooh. Since Eeyore is so negative he is incapable of doing anything he truly enjoys. Without the enjoyment of life there really is no life worth living that is why Eeyore has not had any true accomplishments in his life. This quote is meaningful because this can actually relate to some people who are just trapped in depression and he is an example of how not to live your life. He’s also an example of mentally disordered people which is quite a devastating realistic fact.

The great author Henry David Thoreau once wrote, "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." Thoreau's quote is trying to express that in life we sometimes try so hard to accomplish things and gain status that we tend to forget what we are really after is happiness. People often believe that certain things will bring them happiness such as money, jobs, and material possessions. However, after they acquire these things instead of feeling contentment they feel a sense of emptiness.…

“You arrive at a goal and that makes you happy, but then you notice that the happiness is composed half of relief, half of self satisfaction; the latter half makes you distinctly nervous, and you fall to chewing on your achievements, discounting them. This then becomes the spur to more achievements, more happiness, and more guilt”…

    1. All living creatures on this unique world we call Earth have some type of meaning for there purpose of life. As history shown us, humans however, sometimes struggle to understand what their purpose of life is. Well in my opinion, the purpose of life is not just to find happiness, reproduce, or to become wealthy off riches but rather for an individual to become successful. Success has many different meanings to it so I'm going to define what the term success means to me. Success is a person who achieves their goals, becomes a righteous person, breaks free from there ego and discovers there purpose to life. However, reaching success is not a simple walk in the park, it takes an individual to awaken, become aware, and work to get out of the "cave," so they can be enriched in the light. Plato, in "The Allegory of the Cave," gives a great understanding about a person reaching success on what the purpose of life is. Plato is a ancient greek philosopher, born in 428 B.C. who was a student of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. David Wallace, in his vidoe "This is Water," also gives great insight on how to be a successful person. Wallace is an american novelist and professor of English and creative writing. He was born on Febuary 21, 1962 and unfortunately passed away in 2008. Also, the Dalai Lama, author of "His Holliness" talks about how to achieve success in many different perspectives than Plato and Wallace. The Dalai Lama was the 14th Dalai Lama born July 6, 1935. He is still living and is still the most current Dalai Lama. According to all three, Plato, Wallace, and the Dalai Lama, they all suggest that for a person to reach success, one must know there self, be understanding, make a choice, become more knowledgable, experience, embrace failure, awaken and become free; therefore, a person will obtain a state of enlightenment and truly understand what there purpose of living is.…

In planning her Happiness Project, Rubin turned to the wisdom of the ages, scientific knowledge, and lessons from pop culture all aimed at creating happiness. She uses this book to set down her adventures and discoveries along the way. She learned a number of things, including that novelty and challenge are important sources of happiness, that while perhaps money can’t completely buy happiness it can help in its purchase when it is spent with fore thought, that ordering and organizing her external environment contributed to a sense of inner peace, that treating herself could make her feel worse, that venting negative emotions didn’t get rid of them, and that sometimes it was the smallest of changes that could make the largest differences in her world and her happiness.…

The start of 400 years of slavery began in 1441 when 12 slaves were brought over from Africa. Most African people hadn't even seen a white man until they were enslaved by one. People in the North were unaware of the treatment of slaves until the 1830s when a powerful movement was created. The abolitionist movement was driven to abolish slavery after seeing things like posters and slave narratives that exposed the kidnapping of slaves, treatment on the ship, and the advertisement and selling of slaves.…

The Lion King is a true hero's journey that takes place in the savannas of Africa. The title "the Lion King" emphasizes that a lion is king, most likely referring to the main character, Simba. Simba is the main hero in the story because he regains his kingdom and defeats evil. The main character's archetype is "king"; he takes responsibility for his actions and his kingdom, he regains order and control. Simba takes part in a hero's journey by being a part of the departure, initiation, and the return.…

In his poem “My Life,” Billy Collins shows this kind of attitude in action. First, Collins describes how he used to wonder what his life was, but does not do that anymore. He writes, “I will cease to wonder if it is one thing, a large ball of air and memory, or many things, a string of small farming towns, a dark road winding through them.” As this quote shows, Collins knows that life can seem to be many different things, just like the self can be confused by the ego as Tolle explains in his book. But then Collins goes on to compare his life to a field that he works on, a nest, a hallway, and finally a lake. In my opinion, the meaning of this poem is that our life has many different aspects, and we cannot pin it down to just one thing. He uses many metaphors for his life, but the one he likes the most is the one he mentions at the end when he writes, “I am a lake, my poem is an empty boat, and my life is the breeze that blows through the whole scene.” This seems to suggest that life is an activity that we can create content for as we go along. This is exactly the way that Tolle encourages us to think. Our daily life is an activity, not who we are. We can do many things, but our identity does not change because in fact we are actually just part of the universe. When we remember that, we stop worrying about other problems because they will seem so…

Freedom for Granted In this country, the United States of America, we have a reputation as “The Land of the Free”, as in every man and woman that is a part of this country has the same equal opportunity to prosper. According to Albert Camus’ idea, “Freedom is only a chance to be better.” Inspiring hope, it shows that here in this country, we have many chances to become better, and by becoming one step closer to freedom; we are one step closer to becoming a better nation. I would love nothing more than to agree with this quote, but the fact that every chance our country has gotten to move on from the horrible time of slavery, we choose to stay stagnant. On the contrary, we see that people who are emancipated, or given freedom…

Living is about making choices. The choices people make shape their lives for better or worse. Even the decision not to choose has its effects, often not wanted. But the individual who chooses to make positive choices and to act accordingly is more likely to see his or her life reflect his or her beliefs and desires. Usually the individual who chooses to take action is also willing to face the risks and obstacles that such choices involve.…

“But do they know anything about A? They don’t.” (Benjamin Hoff pg 33). The paradox before this is too long to be written out so I have shortened it to an appropriate amount. Eeyore is the being who respects the almighty A. A to him is more then just a letter it symbolizes one's ability to succeed in life and is immensely important for people like Rabbit or Owl. Whereas Piglet only viewed the letter A as being just a mere number that anyone can pronounce. Their paradox is significant since it shows examples of the people who over exaggerate about a number (Eeyore, Rabbit, and Owl) and the people who live like the Taoist (Piglet and Pooh).…

    Timothy Treadwell Analysis

Timothy was a very eccentric person in which he stated in the documentary Grizzly Man directed by Werner Herzog “I thrived on my highs, and lows of life to balance life out. That is what makes me feel human.” Timothy describes, the positive attitudes of life cures the negative emotions and balance out to make us human. Timothy Treadwell was also on depressional medication at one point of his life but refused to treat himself with medicine due to not being able to act himself, which meant to people as eccentric. Timothy showed the happiness he had for the natural world around him, which made him feel human, even if he was eccentric. As a person who is well balanced emotionally, I can disagree to which Timothy has stated in the documentary. Living life positive will always make a person happy, there is nothing wrong with always being positive, and or optimistic about life. I just find it preposterous to be able to think positive, and adding negative emotions in the mix, it just does not seem mentally healthy for the body. Many human personalities should be well balanced, not be depended to switch off from highs and lows in…
