Trophys Should Be Abolished Essay
Have you ever played a sport , and you didn't earn a trophy? How did that make you feel? Therefore, as long as kids are on a team, they should earn trophies. The following reasons support my claim: kids love the sport, keeps the children fit, and finally, the joy kids bring.
To start of with, children should earn a trophy because they love the sport, not the trophy. What I mean is some kids or even adults LOVE the sport their in. Not the trophy that makes them feel GREAT. Also , so what if they like the trophy , let the kids have some fun , you can only be a child until 18 !( time flies by the way!!)For example, if you are really good at softball, and you got a trophy, that is a good feeling ,right. Well not any more because image you're dad throwing that trophy away, all of a sudden you think you are terrible at softball. Also, participants, might be good friends with their teammates. This is good for the children because if they have a hard time making friends in school then, the player's teammates might be his or her friends. In the end, who cares if the kids does or doesn’t like the trophy , the kids only live once! My second reason why I strongly believe why all team members should earn a trophy is ,

For example, let’s say that you're team is down by a score you can encourage them. You don’t just give up, do you? So now let’s say that you score a goal , the game is all tied up ! Now if that team mate wasn’t there to encourage the others , the game might not be tied. Now in a way, that person sort of just won the game for the WHOLE team! Even if you are not participating or if you just scored one goal, all team members should get a trophy. Now am I persuading you? In the obviously, all team members should get a trophy! My three reasons, kids LOVE the sport, daily activity keeps children fit, and finally happiness the kiddos bring to the team. Therefore , all kids should earn a

Not to mention they have to do nothing, Kids don’t try as hard at sports. For kids to get a trophy now-a-days they only have to show up to the practices and games. They don’t have to do anything except participate in the games. Also in addition to kids doing nothing, It’s unfair for those kids that actually want to try and get better instead of getting a trophy. For some teams when kids don’t try the coaches have permission to say they can’t…

Should we really give kids trophies when they really don't deserve them? So here’s a question, what is very expensive, teaches kids to be greedy, and takes up room, don't know? It’s trophies!. Heres another example, should kids get trophies for showing up and not even putting a valid effort and not exceeding to a good athletic ability. Kids are becoming greedy fast due to the lack of effort, and still get rewarded. Because in life people don't get rewarded for showing up, and kids should not get trophies for participation because trophies lose their value when everyone gets one.…

Should everyone get a participation trophy? According to the "trophy's for all" policy, youth athletes are being awarded trophys for participating in a sport. Trophy's shouldn’t be given to everyone. Participation trophy's lose their meanings at times. People don’t get promotions for just showing up. On the other hand parents and coaches think that participation trophy's are motivating to youth athletes. Handing out trophies is a waste of time if youth athletes are not going to put in the effort to at least earn the trophy.…

According to the article "The Great Trophy Debate: Do We Need Participation Awards" By John O' Sullivan, instead of trophies, the money can go to something more useful like new equipment, giving kids more chances to play on the fields, coaches better coaching educations, or even scholarships. Before paying all of that money for a simple trophy or ribbon, put every kid on the field with a coach that'll guarantee a fantastic time. To add to, coaches (to guarantee a child's happiness on the field) need education to be better at what they are doing. It helps if the coaches can be happy and have a good time with the players to make them feel the same with the…

Giving kids trophies is totally not effective. On debate.org someone quoted,¨ Kids need to learn how to earn what they get.¨ Also in the text, ¨Should Everyone Get a Trophy¨the article says ¨Less - gifted players would spend entire games sitting on the bench.¨ This shows that even though they get a trophy, they don't even get to play in the game and have fun. When I was about five years old, I used to play little kid basketball and every year, i would get a trophy, even though I was terrible at basketball, but I did not feel like I deserved it because I did not win a championship or win…

Some would argue that having all the kids get a trophy is showing the kid that they completed the season and that they did good, In reality the trophy is for getting through the season with hard work and doing good. Not for doing bad. Remember the next time kids go and play a game and get a trophy, Think! The kids lives will not work like that in the future, and the trophies will not be as important when everyone gets one. Everyone shouldn’t get trophies. Instead of having everyone get a trophy, the people who try should get the trophy. Talk to a coach…

Why should kids get trophies for doing nothing? I mean kids don’t pass school just for being there. The major issue about this problem is if kids should or should not get participation trophies, some professional athletes have thrown away or sent back their kids participation trophies, but most parents think they are good. I think that kids do not need participation trophies, they should get trophies for their talent, not because they are there.…

First reason is they need to experience loss and learn from the many lessons that come with it, along with the value of hard work to achieve success. According to Lisa Hefferman states "As parents we would like to assume that when families and kids sign up a team they honor that commitment and show up. We hope that we are teaching our youngest kids to love athletic endeavors or any sorts, as we know this benefits mind and body"(In defense of participation trophies: why they really do teach right values?1210L). With that being said, kids need to experience the loss and learn from the many lessons that come with it, that we can learn something from everything that we do in life. This isn’t meant to enter into the “trophy for participation debate” (you can read a good perspective on that here). Nonetheless, related is the idea that some parents are a bit too protective. This stems from good intentions no doubt, but the end result can be damaging to the young people, especially as they age. Helping our children experience failure and defeat as something that should never derail them is an immensely valuable lesson. We will always fall somewhere in our life, and probably frequently. Helping them see this as an opportunity and not something to be feared has great value. If you can’t do this, you may want to rethink allowing your kids to participate in youth…

It is ok to give out trophies to youth athletes. It is ok because athletes don't like to lose, and it gives the youth athletes something to look forward to, if they are going to win no matter what. Depending on the child, it gives the youth athlete more confidence. But, on the other hand, it will make the child think they are all that and the best, since they got rewarded for literally doing nothing.…

What goes through a child’s mind when they receive a trophy? Is it how hard they worked to be recognized or that they are just being a part of a group? In society there is an arising opinion that not all children participating in activities should receive a trophy. According to Reasons-Rupe Poll, “57 percent of Americans say only winning, and deserving kids should receive awards. Another 40 percent say all kids on a sports team should receive a trophy for their participation” (Ekins). These views are a result of many children showing a feeling of entitlement, an increased cost of programs, and lack of ambition.…
