If you are ever in need of a gift of appreciation, award or plaque, I highly recommend Trophy Athletic.

Two years ago during my sophomore year of high school my parents did not believe that I would be able to juggle school work as well as be on the track team. I put it upon myself to prove them wrong, and I did. I went to school for 7 hours, then after school would practice with the track team until late hours in the day. Their lack of confidence that I would be able to keep my grades up as well as be in a sport prompted me to want to be on the track team even more. With their lack of confidence in me it led me to be constantly racing with the varsity runners and to get a 3.5 GPA, a huge improvement from my freshman year. I managed to make them believe that if I wanted to do something I could do it and do it well. Throughout the school year,…

Whether I am doing a lab in my AP Biology class or spearheading a fundraiser for the Varsity Golf Team, I exemplify the four pillars of the National Honors Society. As an avid golfer who plays competitive tournaments, I know that character is one of the most important traits someone can have. Golf taught me to always have integrity and to do the right thing when people aren’t always looking. In school, I display character by always being positive and honest towards everyone I meet. I am also open to change. I exhibit scholarship everyday by coming to class prepared and ready to learn. I never back down from a challenge, which is proven by my rigorous schedule of Honors classes, AP courses, and extracurricular activities. I try my best in everything…

When I was in 5th grade we were holding tryouts for cheer for the upcoming year. That was the year I was going to prove to all my bullies and peers that I could do anything I put my mind to. Therefore, I decided to try out for cheer without realizing that I would not be on the cheer team until the next year. When finally realized that I would not be able to cheer that year I decided to try out for the dance team, which ended up well for me. The challenge came when I had and asthma attack and the cheer tryouts were 2 days later. I was not going to let anything get in my way especially considering I felt it was the only way to get my peers to see me in a new light. When I finally got back to school, it was the day of cheer tryouts and I was ready…

Intramurals 2012 had the theme of: "Four Teams. One Goal. One Epic Olympics." This years event marks my first Intramurals as a student of UP Cebu. I was so excited for this event because in my previous school we didn't have the facilities for sports so, our intramurals had very limited activities. Unfortunately I didn't get to participate in any of the sports this year but, I did participate during the parade as a flag bearer. Although the sun was burning, the practices were early, and it took away a part of my free time, it was all worth while when Ms. Empleo told us that the flags looked really nice during the parade. During the succeeding days, I watched most of the games and cheered for my division. I also helped with the preparations of the candidates for "Mister and Miss Fitness". I had so much fun watching the teachers dance ballroom! It just goes to show that our teachers can do a whole lot more than just teach inside the classroom. After a whole week of cheering, screaming, and yelling for my division, I can say that its a miracle I didn't loose my voice.…

    Cheerleader Reflection

Throughout middle school and high school, an immense amount of my time was spent cheering. During the six years I devoted to the program, I ascertained how to be an advantageous representation of my school by doing what was proper, even if I was doing so alone. Although cheerleading has a deficient status, cheerleaders are held to a considerably higher standard in comparison to other athletes at my school. As a cheerleader, one is required to keep a high grade point average and maintain a virtuous reputation, for cheerleaders are seen as a reflection of the school. Due to my abilities as both a cheerleader and a leader, I succeeded in securing a spot on the Varsity squad for my sophomore through senior year. At the beginning of my senior year,…
