Sigmund Freud said it best when he said, “Every child at play behaves like a creative writer, in that he creates a world of his own, or, rather, rearranges the things of his world in a new way” (Pearson). Playtime is an activity that is constantly being eliminated or greatly reduced, in favor of more structured educational learning activities starting in kindergarten. Many educational facilities have reduced recess or play breaks in the daily, which can lead to the children becoming overwhelmed or act out, because they have not been able to express their energy. Many parents are simply too busy to be able to fully immerse themselves into playing with their children. Parents today are busier than ever and children are enrolled in a multitude of activities they are shuffled to. Often times, parents will believe that they need to provide a wide arrangement of enrichment activities to build up every skill and aptitude so that their child might become high achievers in both high-school and later on in college, and life…
I feel like the first sentence of Earl’s statement is true because those two-thirds of adolescent and adult usually start drinking at a young age. That would make it easier for them to get attached to alcohol . Having people take a written test just to get a drinking license could help but it wouldn’t help as much. I also think that stores would lose money because not everyone that drinks is going to have a drinking license. I disagree with Earl Rochester argument.…

However, to be prepare the surprise attack, US wanted to be able to protect themselves. During the World War I, it was the best time for US to promote more trade and expanded their market toward the world. To do so, federal governments granted money for developing ports and facilities. According to Josef W. Konvitz, through the expansion of shipping, the great port cities acquired a significant manufacturing sector, including shipbuilding, and met the needs of their growing population for food and energy supplies (Konvitz 293). It was true that it was part…

In the article “A Red Light for Scofflaws”, Frank Trippett shows true and well rounded statements. He states that ordinary law-abiding citizens are able to progressively break more and more laws thinking it is okay to do so. People break laws every minute and everyday without them realizing they have done it. However once they achieve to breaking the laws they will likely choose to continue and influence. It is known that breaking the law is becoming more powerful than ever.…

Donald L. Niewyk’s fifth and sixth chapters both deal more with outside perspectives and outside reactions than it does with those who were persecuted. The fifth chapter, “Bystander Reactions,” offers four different arguments as to why bystanders acted they way they did during the Holocaust. The sixth chapter, “Possibilities of Rescue,” discusses three different viewpoints on what foreign governments could have done to prevent the Holocaust. These two chapters conclude Niewyk’s book The Holocaust and wrap up the final sequence of events surrounding the Holocaust and the camps.…
Bohlander and Snell’s definition of sexual harassment “refers to unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature” (Bohlander & Snell, 2013, p. 112). Thus, Peter Lewiston did not make any direct form of harassment based on the books definition of such; he did fall under the “Equal Employment Opportunity Commission” (EEOC) forms of recognized sexual harassment. Lewinson created a “hostile environment” which the EEOC recognizes, “can occur when unwelcome sexual conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with job performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment” (Bohlander & Snell, 2013, p. 112). As a result Lewiston created a sexually hostile environment for Gilbury based on the constant approaches, and unwanted or requested gifts; even though Gilbury had reputedly stopped his advanced in a proper manner.…
Everyday Americans break laws without even flinching or second guessing themselves. In the excerpt from,”A Red Light for Scofflaws,” by Frank Trippetti, he states how even breaking a law that one sees as minor can have an impact on social order. He also explains how even ordinary citizens are becoming scofflaws [people who casually break the law], in order to persuade Americans not to break any laws regardless of how minor or major they are. Breaking minor laws do indeed have an impact on social order, it can affect a child’s knowledge of right from wrong and what they can get away with. In numerous ways it can increase danger and it can also exhibit bad examples for younger generations.…

Elizabeth C. Stanton was born in Johnston, New York. As a lawyer, Stanton’s father did not have a need for slaves thus creating the anti-slavery sentiment. Stanton was informed of the abolitionist, and women’s rights movements through her cousin, Gerrit Smith. Furthermore, her husband Henry Stanton was a lawyer who dedicated his knowledge to reforms present in the mid 19th century. Being surrounded by reformers had a great impact on Elizabeth C. Stanton as she used her knowledge from Willard’s Troy Female Seminary to further become a women’s rights activist.…
Some people today often think about why do we have laws? and do we really need them? Frank Trippetts explains why many people today don't follow the laws he also talks about the importance of the laws. Trippetts argument is to show people why they should not break the law no matter how big or small the law is. He goes on explaining how millions of americans never think twice before breaking the law. The author's tone is critical to the millions of americans. Some people might think that the laws are unnecessary and people should be responsible enough to not do uneducated choices, they have no idea of what life would be without law.…
It seems these days the average, everyday citizen has trouble abiding with everyday laws, maybe nothing severe as murder or rape, but more mild, simple things such as traffic/driving laws, littering, not using a crosswalk, etc.. Frank Trippett in his excerpt “A Red Light for Scofflaws” coveys and points out the problems of everyday citizens who would never consider themselves lawbreakers by any means, but actually are breaking laws which may be minor, but are nonetheless laws like any others that are in place for good reason. Trippett is conveying this message in hopes of alerting and waking up the average citizen to the importance of following and abiding to each and every law, minor or severe. He uses a very crucial and strict tone for any everyday citizen that may think they’re doing nothing wrong, but actually are.…
The method of skeptical inquiry or way by which Pyrrhonian skeptics bring themselves to withhold assent to every non evident proposition is known as the modes of suspension of judgment. There are five such modes that Sextus provides and they are based on: Discrepancy, regress ad infinitum, relativity, hypothesis and circular reasoning. (Empiricus, 165–169) The modes are designed to assist Pyrrhonian skeptics in in continuing their inquiry by guarding themselves from the disquieting state of dogmatism. For the sake of argument, suppose there is a dogmatist who believes that P. In order to avoid the snares of dogmatism, the Pyrrhonian skeptic would resort to withhold assent about P. According to the mode deriving from discrepancy, due to an undecidable…
In today’s society it is very clear that many Americans don’t take the law as serious as it should be. Everyone knows the right from the wrong, and yet they don't really care that they are doing the wrong thing. Frank Trippett explains how Americans are getting in the habit of breaking minor laws because they don’t considered themselves as criminals because the laws they’re breaking aren’t high risk. Many may agree with Trippetts’ argument since every man and woman in society thinks that going above the speed limit won’t get them into jail or throw away a plastic cup at the side of the road isn’t a big deal, but the truth is those simple acts breaks the purpose of keeping everyone safe. Trippett makes an argument with the phrase, “You’re a fool if you obey the rules” to disobey the law and it’s true because teenagers see it something they need to go against, it won’t personally affect them, and they don’t think it’s a big deal.…
