Triple Crown Award Research Paper
Triple Crown Award In the summer of 2014 I received my Eagle award through Boy Scouts, the highest rank one can achieve through the organization. It was extremely hard and long, I had been working on pursuing this goal since 6th grade. Throughout all the awards and badges I received, the most important and memorable to me was receiving the Triple Crown Award. This award is achieved by visiting three of the four high adventure programs, spotted throughout the United States. These programs include the Northern Tier high adventure in the boundary water (MN), Philmont Scout Ranch (NM), Florida Sea Base (FL), and Paul R. Christen National High Adventure Base (WV). I participated in Philmont in 2012, the Boundary Waters in 2010, and Florida Sea base in 2013. These high adventure bases show your outdoorsman skills in different terrain and different climates throughout the country. They were each hard, adventurous and treacherous tasks to complete but, they showed me how survive in different environments with little help besides my crew. I will remember each of them for the rest of my life because they taught me so much about different parts …show more content…
This trip wasn’t like the others, it was a vacation compared to the other high adventure camps. We flew down to Miami and drove to the base, which was in the Florida Keys. The next day we took two warrior canoes, which were canoes the fit about seven people in each, and paddled five miles out to and island where we would stay for the next six days. Instead of hiking or climbing mountains, our trip consisted of tenting out on an island where we fished, snorkeled and kayaked for the next week. My favorite part about this trip was relaxing in a hammock for hours watching the tides change. This was a dramatic change from my two previous summers of hard labor and exhausting hiking and canoeing; but it taught me that hard work pays

But I left the window open so I got a finger in my hair. Than I have to find a sink hole like in the Simpsons to go back to my normal life. On day four we went to see Tulum historical site. It was exactly 98.1766 miles from our hotel. It was very interesting and informational as well as educational Mr. Werner would've been proud. We than went to Cancun adventure at Selvatica to take in some extreme Ziplining, bungee swing, and Centoe swim. It was an awesome adrenaline rush. I highly recommend the company we used because, they showed us an extraordinary time and only cost us $397.98. The company's name is Selvatica and they specialize in Ziplining. On day five we were bushed but we felt we could take in some shopping, so we went to the La Isla shopping center to buy some souvenirs. I spent $100 and so did Owen and we got so much cool stuff with the money. We also ate at a roadside stand, I never knew you could buy a whole cooked fish at a roadside stand but I guess it is a local delicacy. It only cost us $6 each. That night we were sad to leave. But, we will never forget our Mexico beach vacation and we can't wait to go back. For the whole entire trip it only cost us a total of…

A&M has only had two heisman winners, John David Crow and Johnny Manziel. The Heisman award is one of the biggest awards in college football. Paul “Bear” Bryant commented before the Heisman ceremony, “ If John David Crow doesn’t win the Heisman they ought to stop giving it.” Johnny Manziel won the Heisman award in 2012. He broke the SEC record for total offense in a game with 557 yards and 4 touchdowns against Arkansas. The next week he broke his own SEC record with 576 yards and 6 touchdowns against number 23 Louisiana Tech. Four weeks later the aggies show up in Tuscaloosa to take on number 1 Alabama. I spent every summer in Cape May as a child and still go there as an adult. As a child the journey down to Cape May in our bright orange and white VW Bus was the first part of the adventure each summer. All five kids, two parents, my Grandmother, and a second cousin (we picked up along the way) were piled into the van for an 8-10 hour trip. My Father drove and Mom sat shotgun. After loading the luggage (each child one backpack of stuff) we would push and scramble into the car…

In the past two years I have been a part of National Honors Society at my high school. The four pillars of NHS include: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Ever since my freshman year of high school, I’ve wanted to be a member of the National Honors Society. Being a part of the National Honors Society meant that I would have done well in both my studies and contributing time in my community. In order to reach my goal, I took multiple honors and AP classes to enhance my knowledge. These classes were indeed rigorous and there were many occurrences where I stayed up late doing homework or studying. During these times I felt like giving up, but the passion I had for conquering my goal burnt too brightly. The hard work I’ve placed on my studies has certainly paid off because now I’m at the top 5% in my class with a 3.8 GPA. Also throughout I’ve helped my community in multiple ways such as volunteering…
