Part A: The y-intercept is 900. Why? Because at 0 hours the car is going 900.

Part B: The average rate of change of the function represented by the table between x = 1 to x = 3 is 50 mph, which represents the speeds at which the car is moving.

Solve for the slope: m = y2-y1/x2-x1 m = 850 - 900/1 - 0 m = 850 - 900/1 m = -50/1 m = -50

Part C: The domain of this function would be 0 ≤ x ≤ 18 if the car traveled the same rate until it reached its destination. Why? Because when solved you get the solution of x = 18 which would become 0 ≤ x ≤ 18. y = 900 − 50x
900 − 50x = 0
50x = 900 x = 18
