In 2004, Abbey Spanier Rodd Abrams, LLP files a class action lawsuit on behalf of consumers against General Nutrition Center for violating consumer protection laws. This lawsuit was filed due to GNC having products in their store that had misleading labels. This violated many tort laws put in place to protect consumers against this type of activity from happening. Many of the products were considered to be dangerous for consumers and had to be recalled for consumer protection. Gnc and companies such as Woodbolt Inc. were fined and sued for this violation. This is just an example of how GNC has misled people in the pass and are now misleading those who buy franchise store (Marketing Weekly News, 2012).
