The young adult expects to be free from parents controlling them on their daily decisions, but they still dependent on parents to support them financially. There is also a expectation from them that parents will continue to support them while they learn how to work and plan for their future carreer. During this stage, young adults will have to make choice about what they will do for living. They will think about what they are going to study. Some of them may think that they are better than parents, felling grandiose, thinking that they will never commit the same mistake others do. They will start to select colleges that they want to attend and making plans for the future, counting with parents to support them. For some of the young adults that dont find support from parents to proceed with college, may ending up working part time and attending college part time. Others will be discouraged to proceed with further education. Unfortunately the number of young adults that do not pursue post secondary education is high, especially in some poor areas of societies. In this new environment, they will be exposed to sexual encounters, Alcohol, marijuana and other types of drugs. They will have the opportunity to practice theirs freedom to make their own choices. They will face a lot of pressure. If they dont manage these conflicts well or make bad choices, consequences can follow them for their entire lives. Substance addictions, sexual transmitted disease, unwanted pregnancy and college drop off, can be some of unhealthy results from that. If they manage well thought this challenges, they will learn experiences that will able them to develop healthy relationships in future, as they continue to develop and grow in to their professional and financial independency life. A lot of struggle, conflict and dependence, can be developed during this stage for adults who never left home. Being aware of this stage and all possible challenges that young adults will have to face makes me feel even more compassion for them. As a father, this knowledge will help me understand the environment that soon my two teenagers will be exposed to. Also I will be able to intentionally, prepare them to explore future professional choices, showing them all my
