Did you know that on April 7 1521, Portuguese   explorer   Ferdinand Magellan landed in Cebu. He was welcomed by Rajah Humabon, the king of Cebu, who together with his wife. Magellan, however, failed to successfully claim the island for the crown of Spain, having been killed by Lapu-Lapu, a king in Mactan Island on April 27, 1521 in the Battle of Mactan. On April 27, 1565, Spain colonized the area with the arrival of Spanish explorers led by Miguel López de Legazpi, together with Augustinian friar Andrés de Urdaneta, sailing from Mexico, arrived in Cebu. The Spaniards established settlements, trade flourished and renamed the city on January 1, 1571, from San Miguel to Villa del Santísimo Nombre de Jesús. During this six year period of exploration and settlements by the Spaniards, Cebu City was the capital of the Spanish East Indies. In 1901, the city was governed by the United States for a brief period, however it attained the status of a charter city in 1936 and was governed independently by Filipino politicians.  And now we will pass in Lahug were we can find the Taoist Temple located in Beverly Hills. LAHUG is a saga of growth and expansion.   Lahug used to be a by-word of local air travelers.................. BANAUE

Tour Guide: In a few minutes we will be entering the province of Banaue.

WELCOME TO BANAUE! (Land of the Eight World Wonder)

Banaue is one of the municipalities in the province of Ifugao, a land-locked area at the foot of the Cordillera mountain range in Northern Luzon, Philippines. The rice terraces and the rich colorful culture of its native inhabitants, the Ifugaos, make Banaue, or Ifugao Province in general, an interesting destination for the intrepid traveler in search of unique experiences. My dear tourists, are you excited to our first destination? Are you familiar to Banaue Rice Terraces? So get ready to our first destination. 

Tourists: 

Tour Guide: So, we are now here in our first destination which is the Banaue Rice Terraces. Banaue rice terraces has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. Carved out of the hillside by Ifugao tribes people 2000 to 3000 years ago without the aid of machinery to provide level steps where the natives plant rice. In 1995, they were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. My dear tourists, you have 30 minutes to go around and take some pictures.

Tour Guide: Oh that’s good. My dear tourists, let’s go to our second destination. May dear tourists you are very lucky because today Banaue is celebrating Begnas Festival. It is an ethnic offering of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest, where pigs or chicken are butchered for the family -------------------------------------------------
