Total Soldier Concept Essay
ADRP 6-22 states “An Army Leader is anyone who by virtue of an assumed role or assigned responsibility aspires and influences people to accomplish organizational goals”
The Army’s “Total Soldier Concept” seeks to highlight soldiers that are well rounded. These soldiers will possess more than the required job, technical and tactical competencies. These soldiers are self-motivated, confident, and perform all duties in accordance with published standards. These soldiers seek out more than the mandated military professional development, often obtaining college degrees in addition to their core duties. Great communication and leadership skills as well as, keen physical abilities are the final pieces one must possess to be a complete puzzle. If you are prepared to be a leader, you must set a notable example.

To some, structure can simply mean there is a general framework of how to get things done. As an NCO, incorporating a structural environment for soldiers will help them to adapt to the monotony of garrison.
This structural environment consist on mentorship, trainings to maintain and increase tactical and technical skills, pursue a college education, attend formal Army courses and appreciation of family time.
• Mentorship, involves an accessible guidance for the soldier. Sharing knowledge and experience will help soldiers identify their own issues (cope with the moral repercussions of their actions, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder). Providing support to achieve their goals can benefit the entire chain of command long-term.
• Training to maintain and increase tactical and technical skills: there will always be the need for soldiers to fight and protect our nation. Continuous training will enhance the skills soldiers already have; in fact it will increase their physical and psychological

    We must remain very flexible, able to fight in any situation, condition, and environment. We may face a conventional force one day, save a life of a citizen in our country the next day, and face an unconventional enemy that does not adhere to the Geneva Convention the next.     In this we have learned that complacency has no part in the Army and that the only thing to do is strive to excel in all ways as a group for the benefit of the people we serve which by definition makes us a profession.     1. The ERS identifies officers and non-commissioned officers who are best qualified for promotion and assignments to positions of higher responsibility.     The counseling process is the guidance that leaders in the Army use to proper review the subordinate’s performance and a way to follow up on any improvement the soldiers made during the time frame of the counseling.
