Total Physical Response
TPR method which developed by Prof. Dr. James J. Asher,a professor of psychology at San Jose University California has been succeeded in learning of foreign language for children. He used the commands from the teacher to students or a student to another student. Students try to answer or response the commands through the movements of the body or action. Total Physical Response is one of the learning processes which involves the students actively in the classroom activities. It can be affective in delivering explicit instruction in learning. The effectiveness of the Total Physical Response has been shown by the experts in some countries and has given significant improvement of students’ achievement in learning English especially vocabulary in language target. As children are physically active by nature, Total Physical Response will make language learning especially vocabulary more effective because children feel fun during the learning. This methods of instruction injects the lesson with both physical activity and fun as the students playact their roles and respond to both simple yes/no questions and more complex questions about who, where, when, etc. By having a good skills in presenting the lessons in any kinds of models teacher is encouraged to develop knowledge and stimulate children’s to learn. The knowledge and experience are influences in developing of children’s vocabulary, that’s why teacher should be able to manage and select the material which can be absorbed by children. Besides that comprehension of the vocabulary should be more emphasized and developed in the learning process in order to get the aim of learning vocabulary.
The successful of learning process can’t be separated from the advantages of TPR method itself. The advantages of using Total Physical Response Method in teaching English are wide.

A teacher can check for comprehension by having student’s copy her hand symbols that she uses so her students better understand the lesson.     Based on the reflection form the teaching and learning process during the practicum period, the main issue focused on pupil’s lack of vocabulary. From the document analysis and observation, it has been identified that some of the pupils have problems in identifying several words with pictures. The issue has been supported by the findings from the diagnostic test that was conducted before the implementation of the intervention. The observation has also supported that the pupils with this problem were usually very passive in the classroom. Therefore, this action research is conducted to help Year 3 pupils to enhance their vocabulary with the use of role play with pictures in script. Role play is essentially learning through play. Learning through role play is important within the early primary classroom. In order to accomplish this, teacher have to equip the students with spaces, scenarios, props and the support they need to create a fun and interesting learning environment for their pupils. The research participants consisted of two boys and two girls which were chosen based on the diagnostic test result. The data were collected by instruments mainly document analysis, interview and observation. The qualitative data were analyzed descriptively based on each research participants. The findings had proven that the use of role play with pictures in script was productively able to help the research participants to enhance their vocabulary and solved the problem encountered by them. Pupils were able to relate words based on the pictures which were included in the scripts. It is the key that contributed to the success of enhancing vocabulary by using role play with pictures in script.…

    To begin with, students can learn the vocabulary at long term through their predominant perceptual channel. However, Desai (1996) asserts that “learning styles had no significant effect on subjects' learning.” (p.27). Being in disagreement with the previous author`s view point, it is worth to mentioning that students` learning preferences do play an important role when they learn the vocabulary because visual, auditory and kinesthetic students differ in the way they build their mental lexicon. For instance, visual learners may represent the vocabulary in the shape of pictures for so long. With regard to auditory students, they record the pronunciation of the words in their minds more easily than though pictures or by doing something practical. In term of kinesthetic learners, they feel more comfortable at learning the vocabulary if they have the chance to touch real objects or if they perform playful and dynamic activities. For that reason, English teachers need to vary the materials, activities; resources and strategies when teaching for visual, auditory and kinesthetic students learn the vocabulary for life. Another important thing is that students can put into practice the vocabulary according to their learning styles in the classroom. For instance, visual learners may write and read some texts which contain the vocabulary that they learn in class. In contrast, auditory learners would prefer listening songs and videos related to the words they were taught in the English lesson. On the other hand, kinesthetic students feel comfortable at using the vocabulary in something practical or an activity that implies movement.
