TOPSIM - General Management II Report

The aim of this report is to provide an overview of businesses simulations through TOPSIM, a business management game that establishes a link between business management theory and business management in practice.

The simulation presents a realistic model of a company, such as COPYFIX INC, providing a deep understanding of the fundamentals of production, distribution, financing and promotion. Also, this facilitator helps the participats of the game how to figure out how to control a business in difficult situations and gives them the opportunity to gain a holistic perspective over businesses in general.

Composition of the team

During the simulation, Team No.3 had the following representatives: Chiriac Adrian, Colibaseanu Bogdan, Constantin Alina, Cotac Ovidiu, Croitoru Alexandra, Deaconu Andreea and Stoica Andrei. All of us contributed to this simulation by debating the the economic forecasts of each period and their corresponding financial statements. The main strategy we adopted was making projections through computations regarding investments such as production lines improvement, staff and product development costs in order to maximize the profit.

During the first period the price established for P1M1 was 2500 and the number of sold units was 15000. However, the production costs were greater than the price per unit, respectively 3428 EUR/unit. The board decided to dismiss 100 employees and to invest 1,5 mil EUR in maintenance and 1,5 mil EUR in environment. Moreover, the team decided to make a loan of 25 mil EUR in order to invest it later in production.
