Toms’ marketing has involved fashion shows, high profile events, university campus marketing, social media, and temporary pop-up stores. Products have been created to fit with different environmental ideals as well, including the creation of shoes that adhere to vegan product restrictions in their product lines. The popular ideals of the company have led the company to becoming involved in cross-company advertising campaigns, including a commercial with AT&T that filmed one of Toms' shoe drops in Uruguay. (Crow, 2010) Almost all for-profit companies are really putting their emphasis on financially enriching themselves, but Toms does not. It is a company built with helping other people in mind with warm hearts. In the early of 2006, Mycoskie started to befriend the village kids in Argentina; found out that they had no shoes to protect their feet from infection. He felt a strong desire to help them. He learned about the Alpargata, which is made of canvas or cotton fabric on the upper part while its flexible sole is made by rubber. He partnered with local shoe manufacturers in Argentina to make the initial pairs of shoes and began officially selling his line of shoes in May 2006.
