1. The Unknown Soldier fought in World War I. The burial place of the unknown soldier was in France, near the battle at Vimy Ridge, marked by a tombstone that read “Known unto God”. The remains of an unidentified soldier were returned to Canada to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a specially designed sarcophagus directly in front of the National War Memorial in Ottawa, the National Capital.
