TO live or not to live
Living forever would be an amazing experience. Imagine the possibilities, you could explore the wonders of the world, not only the seven, but everything you can from the lowest depths of the seas to the host peeks of the mountains or even beyond that, like to outer space. With all that knowledge you could write books and teach people about all those places where no one else can go. Besides that you would also be able to learn languages, and then meet people from all over the world. Hearing their stories would help you learn about all the vast cultures out there, maybe understand them better, this could all lead to a more peaceful community due to the fact that you can help world leaders learn about the cultures of other countries and how to negotiate with them. When you looking back at great historical events or buildings like the pyramids of the Great Pyramid of Giza and not only be able to tell people that you've seen them but to be able to tell them "I saw them being built"and how. To be capable to tell people of the time you stood among the people who rose against the barricades during the French revolution, or when you saw both the rise and the fall of the Roman empire. Why wouldn't I like to live forever if I could manage to see and do things that would simply be impossible in the short time span of a normal human life.

Life can not keep on going without death. I agree that death is the best invention of life, it clears out the old to make room for the new (Steve Jobs 71). We must first live a good life, after living a good life we are able to enjoy death because we have done everything we could to make our lives better. So what does it mean to be mortal or immortal? Simply, a mortal is one who is subject to death by free will by having a conscious to make decisions, but either way, we can’t decide when to die because we are humans, therefore, death is inevitable. even if we don't want to accept that as a human you live to die. The value of one's own existence determines one’s fate through this false sense of mortality in reference to the inevitable. Also, the survival of the human species when I think of the inevitable death of every human being. It would be sweet if we could live all the way to infinity, but we are going to have to build a Death Star because the sun, at some point, is going to engulf the planet. That is probably not for a billion years. We'd be lucky if we make it that long. We need to build about a million Death Stars and spread them all over the galaxy. I will leave it at…

We must first realize that resistance was in no way a survival strategy. Yet, even when it seemed obvious that death was near inevitable, why did they not put up a fight? This argument is still puzzling to many holocaust historians, yet the arguments of Raul Hilberg and Yehuda Bauer offer insight to possible reasons why they did not fight and that resistance was more widespread than most people think.…

    End of Life Choices

Over the course of the semester, we have covered many interesting topics in this class. However, the one that I continually struggled to form a solid opinion on, and sincerely had to ponder what my decisions would be in the given situations, was the topic of end of life choices. My own personal thoughts and beliefs would conflict with my religious following, and my mind would continually change on such topics as whether or not physician assisted suicide should be legal, or whether or not I would want to keep living in a persistent vegetative state in the hope of a miracle recovery. I still struggle forming an unyielding position, but the information we have learned in this class has helped me learn more on these topics and given me a broader spectrum on which to base my final decision.…

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us,” (LotR 51). Death is a necessary evil, an end to life. It’s what we do with our life that is most important. In Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings,” mortals who acquire immortality end up facing many harsh realities.…

What would you do if your life had an expiration date? For Randy Pausch, the question was not so hypothetical; his answer was, in essence, his novel titled The Last Lecture. Through his book, Randy explored which values and philosophies were most important to him. In effect, he bestowed his audience with valuable life lessons (both generalized and specific) via recollections of various events from his past. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he made it his sole objective to write a comprehensive account of what he learned from his 47 years of life, and to impart his wisdom to his children, wife, extended family, students, and anyone else who was lucky enough to pick up the book. The Last Lecture was overall an excellent novel, with regards to the overarching themes, his writing style/flow, and the characters involved.…

Boredom. Everyone will eventually lose the will to live because they have already done everything they could have done and experienced everything to their interests. This, I agree, is true, as an endless life could possibly get boring, but one objection that can be raised about his view is that one would not lose meaning to life. I believe there are endless possibilities in life. There is always something new to experience and do. Life is too short. If you could live an immortal life, I do not think it would lose its meaning. Personally, I believe the biggest flaw in Williams’s views is his assumption that your character will be unchanged and everything that could happen, would. In life, people go through so many changes in their character, personality and interests. Things you found interesting when you were 12 years old and things you find now at the age of 20 are completely different. Being older you would find the things you found interesting at the age of 12 boring, so you don’t continue to do those things. You changed and adapted every day, and are always changing in your life span and life hasn’t lost its meaning. So who says you cannot do that with an endless…

Every now and then everybody needs a little holiday, time to themselves. After a long period of working, sunny beaches, snowy mountain peaches or a quiet house by a river together with your family may seem to be as close to paradise as possible. Many would dream of a “never ending holiday” where all you have to do is what you feel like to, but not all fairytales end well.…
