To Kill A Mockingbird: Personal Narrative

I watched nervously as the train pulled into the station in Maycomb. I wasn’t supposed to be there. I was not supposed to be there. I was supposed to be in Meridian. I just couldn’t stand it! They never paid attention. They’re better off without me. As I crept down the street, I wondered idly what Scout and Jem would think. They might think I lied to them! I never lie to hem. Well, there was that one time…..but that doesn’t count! I kicked at the dusty road and twisted the dirty edge of my abrasive shirt. As I inched closer to the Finch house, I remembered that they could send me back on the train still tonight. I couldn’t let that happen! I decided that I had better hide. I peeked into the windows and found everyone in the den. Breathing
Next, I tried to fit myself in head-first but I just couldn’t do it! I heard someone go down the hall to the bathroom and knew that I didn’t have much time, so I shoved myself under backwards and squished back until I didn’t stick out anymore. By the time the person left the bathroom my back was starting to get a crick. A minute later and my legs started aching. Not even thirty seconds later my neck was a hurting. I didn’t know how I was gonna make it ‘till everyone to go to sleep so I could come out. Pretty soon I was aching all over and my legs were going numb. I had to suppress a groan when my arms started to go to. I don't know how much time went by but I knew that I just had to stick an arm out and at least try to get some feeling back. In total darkness, I stuck my hand out and moved it around a bit. My hand was still out when I heard the door creak open. Not knowing what to do, I froze in place. I heard Scout shuffling around the room and held my breath. They couldn’t find me until morning. They’d send me back. When Scout suddenly stepped on my hand I almost yelped. She jumped and once her foot was gone my hand shot back under the bed. Scout paused and the entire county of Maycomb seemed to hold it’s breath. Then, she turned and went over to Jem’s room. I could hear muffled voices but I couldn’t tell what they were saying. The voices stopped and one set of footsteps went to the kitchen. Both sets of footsteps came back and I felt a weight get onto the bed. Next thing I knew, a broom was swinging at me. it narrowly missed and I pressed closer to the wall. Another swing came and this time it connected. With a grunt, I shot my package out first, then pushed out from under the bed head first, narrowly missing another swing of the
